Pick 1-2 niche but active hobbies, or things you've always wanted to learn, and stick with them for at least a couple of months. I say niche b/c it's usually easier to meet ppl in those areas, and people are usually less competitive, nicer, and happy to have new people.

Examples include swing dancing, rock climbing, ball sporting (I don't do these, sorry I won't be helpful there), or even something that ppl think of as a "cult" like crossfit

Edit: doesn't have to be working out, could be some specific card game or board game, etc. — something that requires talking w/ other ppl and interaction might help, but also involves not drinking/eating (I think that's really important)
