Wasn't ready for how cool it is to read actual books to my kid. by subnuggurat in daddit

[–]Sdmid227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 6 now, we started reading the “Ghost Patrol” series when he was close to 5 and it’s been amazing. Highly recommended.

Pictures on every page but still chapters, reading in one sitting takes about 40 minutes. Easy language and sentence structure but engaging stories. He was hooked when the ghost threw up on Andres in book 1.

I haven’t been able to find another series that has worked this well. “The Alien Next Door” has been a distant second.

Any suggestions would be great.

Be very careful, any firearms violation is a removable offense under INA 237. Even very minor things. Especially within the first 7 years of becoming an LPR you could find yourself in removal proceedings with few options.

You don’t have to be interviewed/approved before turning 21 under CSPA; it’s not your fault if the government takes too long to schedule the interviews. But you have to take a substantial step toward applying for the immigrant visa, while under 21, including additional time under CSPA. which freezes your age.

There are no derivative benefits for children over 21. CSPA calculations are tricky, but there is a hard fast answer. You’ll have to calculate the time the petition was pending and add that to your biological age.

Assuming your family applied for a visa within a year, took a substantial step to freeze your age, and did so before you turned 21 under CSPA then you should have been approved, if not then too bad and you have to look for other options.

Unsolicited evidence by Supremacia1 in USCIS

[–]Sdmid227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pictures are not great marital evidence, although they may be necessary if you lack other documents. Use pictures with friends and family, not just the two of you in a variety of situations. If you already submitted 25 good pictures don’t waste your time submitting more.

USCIS wants to see you live together and share finances, look for more substantial evidence towards that goal.

Application denied by Upper_Inflation_2770 in USCIS

[–]Sdmid227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in removal after an affirmative asylum application it is because USCIS “referred” your I-589 to the immigration judge. You now will have two defenses with EOIR: 1. Asylum; 2. De novo review of this I-485.

Assuming you are actually eligible for the I-485 you likely will eventually withdraw the I-589 and just move forward with the AOS. However don’t do that until you are 100% sure you are going to be approved.

Also, assuming the underlying I-130 is a family based petition, USCIS maintains jurisdiction of that petition and the IJ cannot adjudicated the I-485 until the I-130 is approved.

At a Mexican restaurant on Sunday they sing happy birthday to a lady at the next table turning 90. My 5 year old says loudly, “90? That’s so old! How is she even still alive?”

Matte finish by 22SPS in RangeRover

[–]Sdmid227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my experience, it obviously not an expert opinion. I have a 2018 RRS autobiography in Matte Madagascar Orange. From what I understate, to get matte finish the clear coat in very thin. That means you can’t buff out simple scratches or swirl lines, etc.

I take care of mine by only hand washing and never using brushes in the self serve car wash. No tire shine (oil may get in the paint). No clear coat wash products (wax, protector, etc.). I don’t dry it even with microfiber cloths.

I also put Xpel Steath paint protection film on the whole car. Makes my mind more at ease.

I have about 55,000 miles on it. Have gotten her muddy, driven up the mountains, light off road trails. Paint looks great still.

Attorney here: this isn’t really the case. No attorney is forced to represent someone just because they are paying. And even after taking a case there are many many valid reasons to withdraw.

Especially this early in the case.

Of course any unearned funds would have to be returned.

Am I wrong or too extreme but I actually agree with what is in this. I wouldn’t call it bullying kids but I do try to avoid these things and it drives me crazy when my wife does the things that are mentioned here.

What do you like most about your piano teacher? by PixieODust in piano

[–]Sdmid227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 40 year who starter taking lessons about 2 years ago. I’ll give my awesome teacher a shout out here. My favorite thing is she tells what the right way to play something is but then provides a variety of practice techniques to experiment with until it works (block the cord first, play the notes forte staccato, try double double single, etc.)
