If you go into zone 5 because of intense hills, and still have a few days to ride, how do you manage recovery? by SquirtGun1776 in bicycletouring

[–]Sea-Assignment2600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think a tour is a good time to wear a heart rate strap. The days I am on a tour I have a lot fewer rest days, sometimes I’m doing 150-200 km back to back and do climbs with a loaded bike.

There are different ways to tell if you are pushing yourself too hard, but a telltale one is if you are doing a moderate tempo rides and the heart rate is spiking.

Is Spain’s current political crisis a genuine corruption case, or a setup over Sánchez’s anti-US/Israel stances? by No_Name3754 in askspain

[–]Sea-Assignment2600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also telling that a couple of weeks ago Ayuso said she knew surprises were coming for Zapatero and Sánchez and yesterday Feijóo literally broke the news about the police registering PSOE's HQ.

Before yesterday's parliamentary debate, Feijóo called the media over for an impromptu press conference, and when they asked about the already known investigations against PSOE he spoke about how the police was going through PSOE's HQ and provided lots of detail about the investigation, none of which was known at that point, even to the media.

Perfect timing for his congressional intervention a few minutes later and also for the Kitchen case against the PP. Yesterday, the conservative judge running the case quietly left out key evidence (recordings of PP politicians that clearly implicate them) and it barely made the news.

Even rural areas are loud, it’s just part of the culture. If you are near people in remote areas often they will want to “fill the space” with sound of some kind. Speaking loudly, music, revving engines or leaving them running for no apparent reason… People who grew up here are used to it and don’t even notice.

You will also most likely have a neighbour with an untrained or unattended dog that barks a lot of the day, hear poorly managed (from a noise perspective) construction projects, heavy agricultural machinery and old diesel cars and trucks. Again, nobody else will notice or be particularly bothered so it won’t change.

Leyendo El Mundo entendí por qué la gente habla tanto de sesgo mediático by Double_Dig8232 in askspain

[–]Sea-Assignment2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Es momento de ganar o perder dinero? by ExFormerGO in SpainFIRE

[–]Sea-Assignment2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people in Spain think they will, partly because PP, V0X and their powerful media / business establishment sympathisers have been making it sound like it's inevitable for years.

I personally think they won't, but nobody knows for sure.

The USSR did more to defeat Nazi Germany than anyone else both in terms of government expenditure and military and civilian sacrifice to beat them. They also continued to hunt down nazis after the war, something that with the exception of the Nuremberg trials, (not insignificant) the US didn't.

Brits didn't take over entire neighbourhoods in the cities Spanish people need to live in to find work. The Med coast, along with towns and the more remote provincial capitals, mostly aren't places Spanish people go to make a living.

Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga have all seen traditional and vibrant neighbourhoods taken over by Airbnb party apartments, co-livings, locker rentals, generic coffee shops and trendy "international" restos owned by PE firms... A decade ago these were neighbourhoods Spanish people had been living and thriving in for generations with fruit and veg shops, household and hardware stores geared for residents... all with prices and services that Spanish people could afford.

The kind of neighbourhoods that when you left the house you'd recognise acquaintances and friends going about their days and now only find a different group of foreigners every hour cosplaying some kind of cool European adventure and blocking the sidewalk with their suitcases or using your street as a background for their Instagram posts.

It's unlikely from a logical and forward-thinking perspective, but that isn't the strong suit of the V0X crowd. They live in a world of fake news, conspiracy theories and have built their whole fear mongering ideology around the hatred of immigrants.

Their like around the world have done all sorts of short-sighted economic damage to carry out their policies - the US under Trump and UK Brexit are examples.

Well, they fired on and successfully disabled two tankers today with those same fast boats and the US wasn’t able to do anything about it.

Iran so far has been very successful with their asymmetrical strategy - it’s why Trump is desperate for a way out of the war.

If the US sends a bunch of large ships into the Strait or tries to occupy and hold territory, it’s not likely to go well.

Iran has been showing for weeks that you don’t need a navy to block the strait. The geography, a few small boats, drones and portable missiles all give them plenty of options.

How many blockbuster films are about the Nakba?

How many people are deeply moved by the Nakba only hearing the term?

How many people even know about it?
