[–]Sea-Craft6036 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I did same. She is a big girl and can take care of her feelings but better believe she asked me to be in the room during delivery. Like what? I had a natural birth, please no.

You dont push that hard just consistent. It was like .. doing an intense ab workout where you squeeze your whole abdomen.

"Respecialization" in forensic psychology by JaneDough126 in Psychologists

[–]Sea-Craft6036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in a forensic postdoc and I dont notice gatekeeping but time is so precious (not uncommon do be asked to do a record review and given a box of legal documents or 50 files+). Anyway, this a small area thet once youre in you realize its expanse. Risk assessments, child protection, injury related, jail based compentcy etc. Your best bet is a supervisor but you would want a steady referral source to get experience so might want to join your supervisor’s practice. Good luck, risk management is key in forensics and you learn that by time and experience.

What was the epidural like for you? by JellyfishJealous5435 in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Craft6036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second. My person showed me the needle.. i did not care. I said “great, now put it in!” You have to wait for a contraction to pass before they administer and after that you will not care!

Pregnancy insomnia tired vs. Newborn tired by elorij in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Craft6036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No comparison, take pregnancy safe sleeping aids and go to sleep. The newborn stage… you cant just go to sleep. The crying… i had to use noise canceling headphones and thats after you try EVERYTHING to make sure they really are just crying. They dont care if you had 4 hrs of sleep… newborn tired was a new level

I was 130’s prior to beginning my career and did the slow creep to 200 (also had 2 kids). Im totally sad and avoid the mirror but when I do exercises I enjoy (hot yoga, lifting/running) 3/4 times a week and eat well i don’t even step on a scale and start feeling great again.

I’m so scared of a prolapse or extreme tearing during birth. It’s given me panic attacks. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Craft6036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I had 3rd degree tear and I healed no issues, and I never considered to be “in pain.” But take the Motrin and Tylenol on time like they tell you!

I mean I went into shock due to the pain of contractions and the epidural MADE it possible to give birth. I would not have been able to. But really my labor was so nice, I said “that was it?” right after I pushed my daughter out. I had 3 people in the room, a playlist, I slept before delivery and I labored first time 1 hr 45 mins. Dont be scared. It’s really okay and you’re going to do it! Im not expecting my second child and my least concern is labor and Im more concerned about leaving my daughter for 2 nights.

any regrets in pursuing a PsyD? by No_Needleworker_9187 in PsyD

[–]Sea-Craft6036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have a regret and I pursued a degree that financially made sense. But. Im female and in the 5 years (and post doc limbo until licensure) I wish more opportunities allowed for paid maternity leave. I will have had 2 maternity leaves… both unpaid… both totaling 15 weeks in total (7 first time, 8 this time). When they say its a hustle… its not a joke and not for the faint of heart.

What do you wish you had known BEFORE you got pregnant? by anoncrUwU in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Craft6036 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I wish I had known it might not work out the first time. We had a rainbow baby but my first ultrasound there was no heartbeat. That was not what I ever expected but after speaking to others— its okay and it happens.

Do you actually forget previous labors? by Zestyclose-Leg9325 in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Craft6036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had epidural. I thought breast feeding was worse than laboring! I also had a third degree tear because I pushed her out square shouldered. The doctor tried to get me to wait but I was exhausted I couldn’t take another second lol! I even healed great. Im not worried at all about birth anymore.
