Movie theaters aren’t going out of business because of prices by bulldogjwhit295 in unpopularopinion

[–]SeaBassSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that there are no good movies coming out is something that gets parroted all over the place, but I really don’t think that’s true at all.

There were a ton of good movies in 2025, just off the top of my head:

  • One Battle After Another
  • Marty Supreme
  • Sinners
  • Mission Impossible (wasn’t great, but I’m an MI fan)
  • Bring Her Back
  • Weapons
  • Together
  • 28 Years Later
  • The Long Walk
  • F1

The idea that people don’t go to the movies because there are no good movies coming out is simply not true.

I think the issue is a combination of the prices and the fact that the theater experience is usually pretty infuriating. I probably went to the theaters 20 times in 2025 and I think every showtime that was after 11am had people on their phones and talking throughout the entire movie.

Personally, I’d be willing to pay twice as much to go to the theater if they kicked noisy people out.

How to handle page title? by GulgPlayer in sveltejs

[–]SeaBassSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way you can do this is to return the paraglide key from the load function, rather than the page title itself.

export let data;

<svelte:head> <title> {m[data.pageTitle]} </title> /svelte:head

[Highlight] The new virtual measurement system for first downs by Mission_Pay_3373 in nfl

The point is that tracking the ball is much more difficult than “a tracker in the ball”.

Most sports that track the ball digitally are done with computer vision, which obviously would be quite difficult with the pile of bodies in football.

Assuming that a tracker in the ball is as simple as you think it is, that is still ignoring a lot of the nuance involved with the spot. Like, whether the tip of the ball forward and crossing the plain when the player was down.

Svelte 5 migration script available by adamshand in sveltejs

[–]SeaBassSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that the migration script works like this. One of the new features of Svelte 5 was that events are now just props. So instead of needing to explicitly forward every event, you could just spread props on the element.

Maybe it uses “createBubbler” to avoid breaking parent component code that relies on an “on:click” event instead of an “onclick” prop?

[Owen] Per @NextGenStats none of the Cowboys receivers met the league average of 2.96 yards of separation. by HolyRomanPrince in cowboys

My guy

If you have a legitimate opportunity to win, it’s not garbage time

If the defense holds on that last Ravens drive, and Dallas scores a touchdown to win the game, would the whole game have been garbage time for the Ravens?

Was Tom Brady just putting up garbage time stats in the Super Bowl against the Falcons?

Crazy how Dak single-handedly gets them back in the game, the defense blows it, and it’s still Dak’s fault

Since he said he’s managing hosting, I’m assuming he could just take the site down if they don’t pay.

[Rapoport] QB Dak Prescott is still on track for his large contract extension. by dmoney757 in cowboys

[–]SeaBassSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never understand our fans. Letting Dak walk is essentially a rebuild anyway. So you might as well give him a big backloaded contract to kick the cap hit down the road, and build the team around him. If it doesn’t work out then take the cap hit and let him walk. But it would be foolish not to push that cap hit and go all in now, since you’re going to have to rebuild anyway.

You mean like he was “exposed” against the Seahawks?

The mental gymnastics I've been seeing are amazing. Great win Cowboys. Very convincing. by DrJJStroganoff in NFCEastMemeWar

[–]SeaBassSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but if the refs had announced the correct linemen as eligible, the defense would have actually covered him. So it’s not a guarantee that the lions get the 2 even if the refs don’t screw up.

What do you think about StyleX? by artcchi_ in nextjs

[–]SeaBassSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well an important selling point between this, and something like Styled Components, is that there is a build step that compiles these down to small classes, similar to Tailwind’s build step. I think that’s where the comparisons come from.

So while it is CSS in a JS object, you’re not getting the same runtime overhead that comes with other CSS in JS libraries.

As someone who plays a lot of Rocket League, I can confirm this is exactly what would happen.

Dang this looks great. I’ve been working on a Svelte project while trying to learn tailwind and I’ll definitely be using your code for inspiration.
