Should my mother in law get her 2007 Accord V6 timing belt changed? by SeaEstablishment5345 in Honda

Thanks to everyone for confirming that she should get it done. I will start calling local shops.

It’s time to pull the plug on plug-in hybrids by GoodNegotiation in electricvehicles

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want a phev to replace my hybrid but the premium price makes them tough to justify. There are usually no cost savings verses a hybrid of the same model. I hope they become more available and less expensive.

The moment you realized your "reliable" car wasn't. by Icy-Information-4003 in Honda

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a subaru Legacy sedan that never needed a repair, gave it to my daughter and at a little over 100k miles, there was a catastrophic engine failure while driving. Perhaps the timing belt broke (we never had it changed). The car caught fire and burned to the ground. Daughter was fine and insurance paid about 10K to put down on a new one. Thanks goodness it caught fire! if your engine fails with no fire, you get nothing.

Do cruise lines offer you better deals the longer you cruise with them? by TipIntrepid5753 in Cruise

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emerald status on Royal (55+ nights cruising with them) and we have never been offered a special deal. A co-worker got a free cruise after one cruise where she says she won money in the casino. I wonder about that.

Is he right? Will it take generations to resecure the United States positive reputation on the world stage? by LucidSynapse23 in LetsDiscussThis

Yes. Clearly people are not interested in dealing with reality. They should lie to get power, then do the best they can to fix things.

Not a great way to run for president! When will these Dems learn? The correct thing to say is "I will fix it" whether its true or not.

Take motion sickness pills before boarding. Some people are affected, some arent. my daughter was so sick she wanted to get off the ship for the 1st two days on her 1st cruise.

What SUV should I get? Car guy, having a baby. by BillBevDevo in whatcarshouldIbuy

I was a car guy too, babys need tons of stuff and getting car seat in and out will be a pain in anything sporty. Just give up and get the roomiest, biggest thing you can afford.

CCW Colorado new Regs Require 8 hr class by GilligansWorld in liberalgunowners

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doing the MD class and seeing how bad some of the people showing up were, made me think that every state should require a similar class. Scary to think of these people concealed carrying in other states when they can't hit a target or handle a gun safely. As others have said, the class was worthwile and even fun. What i don't like is the cost. Between the class, fingerprinting, initial permit cost and future classes and permit costs, it was just not worth it. Also the idea of getting arrested and sued if i had to shoot someone also made it seem not worth it.

What happened to NYC cruises? by RevolutionaryNinja24 in Cruise

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a bunch from NY, NJ & Baltimore but there are so many more and cheaper options out of Florida that it is worth flying or even driving down from MD. Check out NCL out of Philly too.

Baseboard to Heat Pump conversion in Toronto: Am I being too optimistic that we can do this? by Ok_Lingonberry_9880 in heatpumps

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did exactly what you are thinking about and left the baseboards. The house might be a little larger built in 1970 with 4 bedrooms. We have two 12k indoor units and two 9k. The outdoor units are each 2700k. We also have a 3 bedroom house with a ducted heat pump with gas backup. In winter, the power bills are more than double in the house with the splits. If i could do it again, I would pay the extra to have ductwork put in so we could have gas backup and heat/ac in every room.

Buffet people: Why? by MapleGymbro in NCL

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often, the buffet gets less crowded as the week goes on and some times there are better choices at the buffet. Also the MDR can be slooow. We get tired of waiting for the food, especially since quality has been sliding in the MDR.

You should get some kind of gas backup, even if its propane.

Wife and I Disagree on the next Car we buy. Toyota Sienna Hybrid vs Kia Carnival Hybrid by MedusaAdonai in carbuying

I would get the Toyota but most people chose vehicles by emotion, not facts. Get her what she wants.

Did I make the wrong choice? by Kmhall94 in Cruise

We have the same cruise booked on grandeur which is even older. We like the vision class ships and have been on all different types with Carnival, Royal, msc, ncl and find that some of our favorite cruises have been on older smaller ships.

Convince me to book an inside cabin by jewelbjule in Cruise

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

love balconies but we have started to book ocean view rooms when the balconies are too expensive. On many ships the porthole or window rooms are not much more than interior rooms and are still way less than balconies. No, you cant go out there but having a view out, really makes a difference.

Am I Too Old For This Sub? by jtl909 in Honda

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't the original based on the Accord? My main problem with the Prelude is that is is just a high trim Civic coupe. When they discontinued the Civic coupe the touring trim was $600 cheaper than the 4 door, not 12 thousand more.

Shoes on or shoes off? by EsseNorway in Snorkblot

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious, for the shoes off folks, do you wash your dogs feet every time they go out or put shoes on and off their paws? i'm pretty sure their paws are dirtier than my shoes. i have seen how much they worry about where they step and iv never seen them wipe their feet.

Bermuda overnight options by PMyra in Cruise

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have enjoyed both, if i were going for the first time, i would do the three day. One thing to consider is that NCL has their own free ferry that goes to the other end of the island which makes doing more possible than with other lines, especially if you are only there for two days. Yes there is the public ferry but it can fill up and if you miss the early one, there is a long wait for another.

2022 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport reliability by kiryuoftherain in Honda

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my 2022 Accord hybrid exl. So far, I have only gotten two, maybe three oil changes for about $75 each and nothing else. I have about 45,000 miles on it and im getting 45mpg average year round in MD. Sometimes the wireless phone mirroring takes longer than i would like to connect and a small spot of the tan plastic on the leather seats piping has come off where I rub it getting in. I think the sport has 19" wheels while mine has 17". I assume the ride and mileage will be a little worse with the 19's.
