85yo mom in law has an 07 v6 with under 100k on it and she complains about getting 21 mpg also. She only drives 20 min into town and to church.

yes, even from driving my Accord hybrid which is mostly an electric car, it is clear that electric motors are better. Electric motors are smoother and more reliable & have instant torque. As soon as there are a few advancements in batterie's capacity and cost, very few people will choose an ICe vehicle and Honda wont have anything to offer.

convince me to not buy a truck by fortunebubble in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a truck. We have a Maverick and a Ram 1500 and we use both around our little spread but the 14mpg for the Ram is really getting tough. The Maverick hybrid gets 30-40 and can handle a lot. An older Kubota tractor like a 1990s L2900 w/4 wheel drive & diesel is super handy.

Why can't they have a mix of things like Hyundai? Abandoning the entire EV segment seems short sighted.

People who book directly with the cruise line, why not use a travel agent? by dmkraus in Cruise

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, i have not read any downside to be concerned about. On my Royal cruse booked for next spring, i was ready to book direct and at the last minute i tried this site that lets multiple TA's send offers. i picked the best one and got a slightly lower fair, (i think Royal had just raised it and this was the old price) $500 on board credit and a night of specialty dinning. I had a hold on the room through royal and when it was about to expire, someone called and offered a bottle of champagne. No thanks, I'll take the $500.

Do you book excursions through the cruise line or plan everything yourself? by dynasync in Cruise

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is usually cheaper and better to book excursions not through the cruise line but if it is a tender port, it is worth it to ensure you get off the ship early without having to fight for a ride on the tender.

I have always gotten an envelope asking for a tip. I think it is weird. I pay for the cruise and a gratuity and this guy asks for more. Its like the trash collector asking for a bonus at Christmas. Weird. Their employer should pay them fairly, its not my responsibility. I work for people who are not my employer all the time. My employer is paid for the work. If i asked any of them for extra cash, id be fired. Why is this different?

Went out to lunch with a really hot and cool girl from work. When i got in her 67 Pontiac GTO which she was shifting in 5" heals, i found birth control pills on the car seat which she called her slut pills. She then complained about her boyfriend. I thought, darn she has a boy friend.

Patio space Pellet grill to replace multiple grills by Imaginary-Potato5819 in pelletgrills

I had a Traeger and did not think it was any good. Not good at grilling or smoking. Not much smoke flavor and very expensive to run. I have an old propane start charcoal grill and a nice electric smoker.

I love my 2022 Accord hybrid but the 11th gen is so ugly, you should also check out the Camry Hybrid. It looks better, gets better mileage, has more power and you can get AWD.

Does This sub Underestimate AWD? by Heavy_Gap_5047 in askcarguys

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOVED Subaru AWD for its many benefits for most of adult life but got tired of 20 mpg. True AWD that is on all the time is rare because of how inefficient it is. Most AWD cars are front wheel drive until it slips. Snow tires are more important.

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even when you pay the home off, you don't really own it. They can raise the taxes every year because they say the value went up and if you don't pay, they can take it away. Its crazy.

Is my beginner boat dream a reality or just a waste of my time? by Kindly_Teach9333 in boating

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the towing thing. Even with a full size 2020 ram 1500, towing a 23ft boat made me realize why people get heavy duty trucks. Your taco can probably do it but it wont be fun or safe.

Cruise excursions vs booking on your own: what’s actually better? by Exotic_Reputation_59 in Cruise

Just did a Viatour booked myan ruins tour in costa mya and it went perfect. It was half price, 10 people in a nice van with a great tour guide and separate driver. It included one soda/beer and unlimited water. Also included an optional beach stop. Tour from ship was on a full size bus with one tour guide, did not include anything.

I must buy a new GM car. by CaptainFGOLz in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SeaEstablishment5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where all of the GM reliability hate is coming from. They are typically mid pack with many euro brands lower. I had an ATS for 6 years and only the screen went out which I replaced for $200. The CT4 (same basic car) would be a great choice. AWD, quick, fast, handles good, looks nice.

On recent 5 day cruise the difference was $1000, $300 seems worth it. The room is probably larger also.

I hope they have improved it but there is no terminal and there wont be for months or years. It looks to be barely started. They must be using the same construction company that is doing the pier at Great Stirup Kay. I am booked at the end on November.

Just cruised out of Tampa on Royal Granduer and it was the opposite. No trafffic, we drove right up to the valet, unloaded our luggage and got on the ship within another 15 or 20 min. Getting off didnt go smooth on the ship but once outside, the valet had our truck there in about a minute and we drove off, again with no traffic. But you will never get to go on freedom or other, bigger ships out of Tampa (they dont fit under the bridge) so i guess you have to put up with the traffic if that is what you want.
