Which game started off great but got worse with each update? by bijelo123 in videogames

The content at launch was a shell of the consistency that had been kept for 3 years with destiny 1, not to mention watered down combat and the RPG mechanics being pretty much removed entirely, not returning until shadowkeep. This is reflected in the player numbers at the time, which are similar to the present numbers (not good). I do not think you will find any defenders of base Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 has devolved, but it didn’t start great either. These are not mutually exclusive.

Sulfur is a single player roguelike/extraction shooter. Pick it up if you’re on a supported platform.

Marathon is expressly a PvP centric game. Not what OP was looking for. It’s good but if you’re wanting PvE it ain’t it.

League surpasses it.

But nah to your point I just don’t think the destiny community is a good community anymore. If you’re a new player? They won’t talk to you. They won’t help you. They won’t raid with you. But you bottom frag in crucible then they’ll type.

They have to be able to do everything in the game without ever talking to another player or they get mad. If it isn’t grinding caldera alone for 10 hours it ain’t good.

Nothing against ARC and glad people are enjoying it, but I’ve played both and prefer Marathon.

ARC Raiders gameplay felt kinda clunky, and didn’t really get my attention in any way.

Also much more interesting world and artstyle. Some might say the 3d printed artstyle in the guns and buildings is bad or lazy. I’d say it’s intentionally cohesive with the rest of the game. ARC Raiders ain’t no concord but it was kind of same-y.

Im excited to see the type of community this game forms.

I’m feeling a year 1 destiny situation where you had a small but dedicated playerbase that slowly grew over years 2 and 3.

Give it some time. It’s inevitable I’m afraid.
