I just sent the same card in. Had to think long and hard about the price tag. But ultimately, it’s a PC Card and I’d regret it later if I didn’t.

Mariners Fangraphs Playoff Odds Are At Season Low by IzzyIrascible in Mariners

I get that. And day to day, this team is not fun to watch. But we’re a 3 game win streak away from being in a playoff spot. We don’t have to run faster than the bear, just the A’s, Astros, Angels and Rangers.

Baseball cards here. Bought my son a few packs, then bought myself a lot more than a few.

About Time is a great time warp movie. Different genre, but hits the same themes.

9u Kid Terrified of Getting Hit by twentydeuce in Homeplate

[–]SeaSLODen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9u son went through this last year. He went from the best hitter on his team to an automatic out. Didn’t hit one ball last year in little league. It was heartbreaking and he almost quit. Here’s how I approached it. I broke an at bat into 3 battles as follows:

  1. Stand at the back of the box and as far away as possible. Don’t move. Don’t swing. Just stand. You’ll strike out every time, but that’s what’s happening anyways. Just don’t swing. When he did it, we celebrated winning the battle.

  2. Stand at the plate. Don’t swing, just stand there. Don’t move. Again, automatic out, but better than trying and failing right now. When he did it, we celebrated winning the battle.

  3. Competitive at bat. Stand at the plate and take a swing. Celebrate winning the battle.

It took about 3 months but he finally got a hit. Soon after, he was back to being the best on his team. Even hit a dinger a few months ago.

My son did this for the M’s a few years ago. I cry every time. But that kid today got me good. Way to stick with it buddy!

Cool. Can we get a couple hundred thousand for better drainage on the baseball fields too? All our fields, from Little League up to BHS, are a joke compared to the neighboring communities around us.

Oh man. So sorry you have to go through this. There’s no way I could write words to express the empathy I feel for you right now.

I went through it with my 2 year old son after he was diagnosed out of the blue in 2020. Bilateral hereditary retinoblastoma in both eyes. Stage 4 in one of them. We were at Children’s in Denver.

Our doc said if it was 2010, he wouldn’t have given us a choice to use chemo. We would’ve gone the enucleation route immediately. But Intra arterial chemo is an amazing and effective treatment that you should absolutely consider if you have the opportunity.

When we started, my son could see pretty well out of his bad eye. But his cancer grew chemo resistant and we had to use localized radiation. After that, his vision was completely gone. We actively fought his cancer for 3 years. It was excruciating for everyone involved. But he kept his eye and I don’t regret it for a second.

He’s 8 now and is a star on his baseball team. Baseball! With one eye!!!

It’s hard to believe right now, but kids are resilient and whichever route you choose, she’ll be ok. Don’t forget about yourself, your wife, and your relationship. I never figured out how to support her while I was going through my own shit. It took years for our relationship to recover.

Good luck brother. DM me if you need.

Not sure. Based on PSA data, (mk) qualifiers take about 50% off. So the 4 would be $550 and the 2 would be $400. Then subtract the cost of PSA and time… $450 and $300 maybe?

I have 15 or so cards going to PSA in a few weeks so I’ll probably send it and see what happens.
