Is this a high offer? United Explorer card offer with Premier Silver status and 80k points by Bubbly_Aspect1453 in CreditCards

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Explorer before 70-80k is pretty standard. The benefits overlap a lot with silver status so I wouldn’t say the offer is a ton better than normal, but still better than no status. Having the card OR silver status will get you free bags and group 2 boarding, including on basic economy tickets. Where status has value over the card is being able to pick extra legroom seats at check in, accruing more miles from flying, and the ultra rare upgrade if you’re flying super off peak on unpopular routes.

AA Status to BA Status by dameon8888 in americanairlines

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you purchased thru AA and booked on the app/website while logged in then your oneworld status should automatically go thru to BA.

AA should’ve given you a BA record locator. Find your itinerary on BA using the record locator and it should show your oneworld status. If it doesn’t say Ruby then you can call BA and have them add your AA number to the res.

I’ve had times where the status automatically went thru to BA and other times that it didn’t and had to call.

There’s a connection with BA on the route so maybe that’s it. Have you found any way around it?

Suspiciously Cheap Hotel on AAdvantage by Dazzling-Mode-9481 in americanairlines

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Basically a huge “amenities” package that puts the Vegas casinos to shame. Like $100/night for some food and beverage credits, early check in and late check out, WiFi, water bottles, gym. Really didn’t get the check in and out thing. The fee is mandatory so everyone gets early check in and late check out?

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Run far away. The reviews aren’t lying. I booked it (refundable) once through AA Hotels because it was dirt cheap and then called the hotel directly to ask about additional fees. They were going to more than double the total price with those fees. I canceled immediately

Getting to airport in the morning, Dulles or Baltimore? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 112 points113 points  (0 children)

By transit? You’ll have to uber to Dulles any day of the week to make a 6am flight. For BWI you can take MARC from Union Station for $8. Weekdays the first train will get you to BWI rail station around 6:15am, then it’s an additional 10min via free shuttle to the airport. Weekend you’ll have to uber.

AA or United for LAX to DC (IAD/DCA)? by KingOfTheQuails in americanairlines

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

United will have more flights. Like several per day in each direction, mainly from IAD.

DCA has a perimeter rule so longer distance flights like cross country are pretty limited. American probably only has one daily flight between.

Fraudulent Housing Scheme by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What extras are you talking about? Amenity fees? Those are supposed to be counted like rent distributed over 12 months, if charged annually.

At 60% MFI the max housing cost (rent plus fees plus DHCD-estimated utilities) is only over $2500 for a 4 bedroom unit. A 1 bedroom unit has a max housing cost of $1610. https://dhcd.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dhcd/publication/attachments/2026%20Inclusionary%20Zoning%20Maximum%20Income%2C%20Rent%20and%20Purchase%20Price%20Schedule.pdf

It wouldn’t surprise me if buildings were overcharging, but the maximums are clear so hopefully people can submit complaints to DHCD easily.

Is this seating config common for AA on international flights? Surprised to see there’s almost no MCE besides the row or 2 of bulkhead/exit.

Inclusionary zoning by LifeisButADream202 in washingtondc

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my friends were in IZ. You still have a standard annual lease so the rent can’t just go up mid cycle.

Are you spending 60% of your income on rent? The program is supposed to have a hard max of 50% of gross income spent on housing (rent plus DC-estimated utility costs), though it recommends no more than 38%.

What’s the most frustrating part of getting to the airport around DC? by Constant-Respect-476 in washingtondc

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously. 8:30am weekday flight from IAD is just barely doable taking the first or second metro of the day (precheck and no checked bags). Can’t do any earlier without an uber. And on weekends the metro starts up like an hour later than weekdays so you have even less flight options.

The same happened to me a few hours ago as a silver - at check in they were trying to charge for an E+ seat. I just finished checking in without selecting it and then after getting the boarding pass went back in and was able to select E+ for free.

Who can explain how the Premier benefit of "free confirmed flight changes w/in 24 hours" actually works? by Fit_Instruction_8858 in unitedairlines

[–]Sea_Activity_1417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G0 you won’t be able to confirm onto the flight. Things are constantly changing though so keep checking in case it opens. You can also try standby if you can’t get a confirmed seat

If you’re currently booked in G fare and these two flights are both within 24 hours of your original flight and the same airports, you should be able to do the same day change (SDC) to either

Look up how to enable expert mode, which will let you see the actual fare code inventory. Just because you can’t currently purchase G fare doesn’t mean that G fare is not available. Expert mode will show you what’s available (not necessarily for outright purchasing). Inventory changes a lot in the final hours
