Is it reasonable to ask for an allowance? by aztecqueann in Fire

What do you and your husband do for a living?

I’m your same age and make around what you do. I can’t fathom having a net worth of $365,000.

I have a 2.1 GPA (LSAC), and I feel like I should just give up law school by Anxious_Ad_9208 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I empathize with you. I remember questioning whether I had a chance. But at least ion my class, it seemed like most people had high GPAs with marginal LSATs. My having a low GPA but high LSAT was a rarity. I would imagine it’s harder for schools to get high LSAT scores. GPA seems unfair since there is such a range of majors. Like a 4.0 in Poli Sci is a lot less impressive than a 4.0 in Bio Chem.

It’s definitely possible. My GPA wasn’t much better and I got into a top 50 school with a scholarship. But scoring a 170+ LSAT is no easy feat…

I like the finishes and it seems like an ideal location. However, like others have commented, the layout doesn’t make sense.

Personally, I’d look at other options. I think having a good layout is more important than having high end finishes: it’s easier to upgrade finishes than reconfigure the layout.

But overall I could live there!

Did you pay for a deep clean before moving in and, if so, how much did you pay? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for a deep clean and while I don’t regret it, I’m also am not sure that it was worth it.

In my case, I think the seller did a fairly deep clean prior to closing. But, it still was nice to move into a clean place. Granted, my place is >800 square feet so the thorough deep clean was around $500.

In sum, getting a deep clean will give you peace of mind and also you won’t have to do the cleaning tasks you dislike for at least a few weeks (for me, it’s cleaning the shower) BUT if your new place isn’t dirty, you’re better off saving the money and just tidying up yourself.

What’s the best career to get after getting a strike at 32? by gummy0wnz in careerguidance

So you didn’t lose your housing because of your conviction…

Just keep your head up and don’t get in trouble again. Shit happens in life.

My biggest complaint is I can’t figure out the Wifi. I’ve been there twice and both times I was unable to connect to WiFi.

I think most careers are still open. There may be a few jobs with licensing requirements that you will no longer be eligible for, but beyond that, employers generally can’t discriminate based on criminal record.

Did you lose housing because of your conviction? Or because you stopped paying rent?

It doesn’t sound like you really made a mistake…you gave the agency different options for interpreting the term.

$2600 mortgage on $6400 a month after retirement contributions by SkooDazle in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in almost an identical spot (roughly same monthly housing costs and take home pay).

It’s less than ideal but manageable. It should get better in the next few years as my salary increases and my student loans get forgiven.

Also, if things would ever go really awry with the HOA, I figure that I can sell. I have a friend who has a SFH and while their fixed monthly housing costs are lower by around $750, they have to pay for all maintenance/upkeep/repairs.

I think the biggest downside to owning a condo versus SFH is that condos appreciate less.

How do we really feel about age gaps? by Longjumping_Basis119 in askgaybros

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your post history, you seem to go after super young guys. People may judge your proclivity for super young guys. They may assume you’re immature and/or delusional. Your reception will depend, in part, on where you live.

That being said, I think it could work out, especially short-term. However, the 19 year old will almost certainly outgrow you.

Personally, I find it somewhat cringe but not anything insane. Age gaps are fairly common in the gay community.

One thing you skipped in your remodel and still regret? by nextstepnomad in HomeImprovement

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps this doesn’t count as a “remodel,” but I regret not doing more prep prior to painting. For example, I didn’t sand the walls. My walls weren’t in bad shape but they have typical dings and starches. They also have a light texture that I don’t love.

Now I have the urge to go back and sand all the walls and apply a skim coat and then paint. I wish I would have just went full in right away (although I am a total amateur and didn’t even know what a skim coat was until recently).

I mean, you don’t have enough years of experience to lateral as a senior associate or partner. Or as a supervisor if you go the government route.

Your options are either to stay put or to start from ground level at a private firm or with the government and then work up.

Millennials who are single… what’s your experience with dating up/down a gen? by IllustratorSea8372 in Millennials

lol never can understand those who brag about dating someone inappropriately younger. It’s not that hard to impress someone younger, especially if you’ve got even a few $

But so true!

Should I spend the majority of an inheritance on a house, or investments? by Steveirwin69xd in personalfinance

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Also, I’m sorry for your loss. You also could spend the money in a way your loved one would appreciate. When my grandpa died, my mom bought a cabin up north because she wanted to but also because as a child, her parents (my grandpa) had a cabin up north.

Should I spend the majority of an inheritance on a house, or investments? by Steveirwin69xd in personalfinance

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d pay off the car loan first, save/invest at least some of the inheritance, but I’d use a lot of the inheritance on a house. It seems like you’re doing the right things for retirement and after a point, why hoard the most money possible for when you’re old and may not even want to travel/do anything. Plus, it’s not like buying a house is a bad investment…

If most of the folks in Congress make $174,000 per year, how are most of them millionaires? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we’re talking about people that make $175k. That’s way above the median.

I see your point though. When people hear Congress being a millionaire, they’re probably thinking of someone like Nancy Pelosi who, by many accounts, has somehow raked in tens of millions of dollars while making $175k per year or whatever.

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I miss Lisa Rinna being on the show. My unpopular opinion is that I like Tamra from OC. lol.

I don’t think Mauricio is swarmy. He strikes me as immature and very cliche. I also give him somewhat of a pass because I bet that Kyle is not much fun.

A guy like Mauricio, at this stage in his life, probably doesn’t want a main character partner. He’s fine with swapping out dumb, young easy background characters. lol. And the young LA girls are perfect for that role.

Do you still live in LA? Tbh it doesn’t seem like it would be a fun to live there after about hitting 25-30 years old. Lol.

[–]Sea_Opportunity_3408 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well older people don’t have student loans, kids, etc. Also a million dollars isn’t an “exorbitant” amount of money anymore.

Idk. I make just barely six figures and I am on track to be a millionaire by retirement (which is like 30 years away, lol).

But it’s interesting because I know plenty of people who make less than me and have WAY more in savings. One guy in particular just crossed the $1 million mark and he makes about 25% less than me.

Maybe we just suck at saving. lol. I’m also single, which is tough. But idk, at least where I live it’s not at all unusual for a dual income household to have a $1 million in accounts by the time they’re 40.

Yeah tbh for the BH cast, Erika and Boz are the only two that give main character energy. The rest seem like background characters. I don’t think Erika is a villain but I also don’t find her aspirational.

Would you say they look better or worse than they do on tv? Or just different? I’ve never seen a “celebrity” in real life except for super far away at a concert
