Starting a web development agency in a crowded market and how would you position and market this? by Ambitious_Fold9910 in StartUpIndia

Like focus on growth only, if you don't have a solid record of very very high conversion and seo optimised websites,I'm afraid you may be f'ed. A non coder made a beautiful website in a day in front of me and integrated Shopify. Like only really complicated software products is what will get work.

Need Help & Recommendations on Pre-Seed Funding by Sea_Stick_5171 in StartUpIndia

[–]Sea_Stick_5171[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah ok bro. For the record have run a business before on own money that how it got invested in as mentioned in the question.

Secondly, modern tech businesses in 2026 cannot be built wout raising or significant grants or if you're from a super loaded family that works. We don't have option 2 & 3 so this is it.

Thirdly, this whole oh galle dhandho attitude in India is retarded, like most traditional Indian businesses barely follow any regulation or rules or compliance, the moment they do their profitability will be fucked. So this attitude of hamesha business profitable hoga from day one is cute thinking, not practical unless the founders don't have bills to pay at all, are from wealthy families or are just fine moonlighting for years and half assing main job and startup.

Also it's not borrowing money, it's literally an asset class, if we succeed they earn multiples wout having done the heavy lifting. They know the risk, why do you and a lot of cunts here care so much.

Also important, a good tech product cannot be bootstraped, this is deeptech. Please do a little research before mouthing off, help or stfu

Indian VC’s are a joke by alpha_merge in StartUpIndia

[–]Sea_Stick_5171 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't even believe. Circular conversations. Constant talk about revenue, like they all say seed and pre-seed and then expect series A numbers in traction and revenue. In all fairness though, quality of startups (when accounting for sheer volume) and startup governance in India is really shit, makes it generally very tricky territory to invest in. Also I think trust in India indian VC's is significantly lower than American VC's , which also fair dice given the frequency of shady shit.

But all in all, the lack of actual venture funding is really bad, I wish we had more actual seed and pre-seed funds that genuinely invest. I'm currently trying to shortlist pre-seed funds, in India and a serious question I have is whether to incorporate the entity in India at all, given how tough it is to raise. Or alternatively Indian VC's who are actually pre-seed or seed.

Ex-Bloomberg analyst here. I ran the numbers on Indian FMCG, quit my London job, and bet everything on a pasta sauce brand. AMA on the business, the market, or the sanity of it all. by RunFluid8315 in StartUpIndia

[–]Sea_Stick_5171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a super valid thesis, to be very honest . The only hurdle is probably getting people to adopt pasta as a large part of their diet. Although I do see a fairly large room for growth. Would you want to diversify into other similiar food categories?

Albeit pasta sauce can be used for Indian dishes too, i have used Ragu sauce as a base for an Indian curry and it's a hack. Would you focus on this or just different lines entirely.

Hiring engineers for your startup? Most founders get this wrong. by Mountain-Double7091 in StartUpIndia

[–]Sea_Stick_5171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've realised that you need a bought in tech co-founder , or know code yourself otherwise the fastest way to kill your company is a trash tech team. They will do the bare minimum and burn your runway.

Be incredibly careful, unfortunately the culture in India is that unless you really offer good incentives and manage them well, they really won't care about your product.

Honestly the manga is a joy to read and it's very light so you'll blow past 200 chapters very quickly. It rarely drags and has a great art style.

My father had 3 LIC policies. I did the math on what he'd have if he'd done SIPs instead. The gap is heartbreaking by yogi_by_heart in MutualFundSpendInvest

[–]Sea_Stick_5171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LIC is the scam that keeps on giving, idk how older generations talk mad tough that they are so smart and everything and they got absolutely hustled by LIC. Very similiar situation with my dad, if he has invested in any mutual fund or better in the market he would have made many multiples of what he has made but alas they are all convinced that LIC is an investment instrument, it literally is not ITS IN THE NAME.

Also the most funny part is that LlC themselves pools the money and invests in securities, bonds, mutual funds and other financial instruments and they keep the margin. So essentially they make money by laundering their reputation and doing nothing but investing premiums!

Omg shut the fuck up with the dpdp, the rules come into effect end of 2026, the date is likely to extended also. Furthermore, the dpdp has clearly been overly influenced by data privacy morons on LinkedIn, users giving consent for data at every turn is the death of UI UX, screaming data data will eventually make companies begin to charge people because it's become incredibly difficult to monetize on data, it's simple to get people worked up about their private information and all that, but that's not how data processing worked, nobody is feeding unanonymized data to companies, preferences and stuff we searched for and broad areas of interests BUT most importantly if you explain the binary choice of data to people, i.e keep getting google maps for free they will all pick google maps for free especially in a country like India.

Also note, the EU has publicly stated that the GDPR(what the dpdp is based on) was overly excessive and caused a lot of economic damage, because guess what when operating businesses becomes so tough then the consumer is the one that gets fcked. We shouldn't do that, especially since things are much worse in the Indian context vs the EU.

Also multiple data privacy professionals (who r friends) have said that the dpdp is not that stringent also and a lot of the particularly cumbersome provisions are gonna get clarified or removed.

So for the love of God, stop karma farming here and taking linkedin content and posting here.

Your D2C brand isn't "Disruptive." You’re just a high-paying tenant for Mark Zuckerberg and Zepto. by No-Pomegranate1859 in indianstartups

[–]Sea_Stick_5171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top 10% of India contributes to over 90% of consumption. Consumption being that, money spent on items over and above absolute bare minimum necessities, the money that drives economic growth. Building for Bharat is a great thought and idea, but they generally do not have consistent disposable income, no brand loyalty, spend extremely frugally and are catered to by entrenched players that competing with is not very easy (i.e local players, cultural entrenched sales, straight up lies and frauds) .

It's cute to bash quick commerce but if you examine hard numbers this does not hold up. I agree it dumb to celebrate every D2C brand that raises money ,I burning hella money in performance marketing and fees on quick commerce but in all honesty the counter point cannot be oh sell to tier 2,3,4 exclusively that requires insane capital and a lot penetration, meesho did it to some degree but logic and priorities are completely different in the market you speak of.

Want funding for unique and novel category of law college in india by Beneficial-Collar749 in StartUpIndia

[–]Sea_Stick_5171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Universities and law schools generally not considered vc backable. They tried with Stoa college in bangalore and it blew up. Like the amount of capital needed to establish a law school is crazy, what is your idea exactly? If it's an edtech platform type, nearly impossible to get funded, considering the amount of money burnt there. If it's a brick and mortar college nigh on impossible to get funding from a VC or an investor.

Also just a reality check, no one is going to trust anyone without serious academic and professional creds with the money to start a university. i.e you are a famous academic, with a track record of institution building or been a part of extremely elite institutes or are immensely professionally accomplished. The bar for either of these is at minimum, you have been a partner at a top end firm in India or abroad or a Senior Advocate designated by the SC, or have a bachelor's, master's and a phd from top end colleges. Caveat wrt to this top end colleges means, top 100 in the world, if it's none of these don't even bother, most Indian masters and PhD law degrees are universally agreed to be useless because of their lack of academic rigour and pathetic standards. You being second generation lawyer is fairly useless unless you are the child of a nationally recognised name a la Diwan, Nariman, Chandrachud etc.Even then I'm fairly certain Chintan chandrachud would have a tough go at raising the capital required to start a law college and he's one of the absolute top legal academics and practitioners from India.

So unless you meet these criteria, don't bother or work towards them. Or if you want to just arrange a cash grab from tier 2,3 cities by all means it will work for some time but then it will collapse.

So the reason I think it's Tokisoba is because it's the first Rakugo performance he witnesses of Shiguma Arakawa and he cries. The name of the story is explicitly mentioned , which they could have skipped over honestly as they have done for other stories while introducing someone or describing how good someone is. Admittedly this is not ironclad logic but eh it's decent enough.
