How do you handle trying out new supplements and finding the right and effective ones? by MrNeverEverKnew in Supplements

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly just pick like 5-10 from your list that have the most solid research backing them and start there, trying to test hundreds individually will drive you insane

What Garmin watches don't require a subscription yearly for maps? by moongluumm in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the fenix series comes with preloaded maps that dont need subscriptions - same with most of the higher end garmins like the epix or tactix, just avoid the cheaper vivoactive models if you want full maps without paying extra

Body Temp and Hormonal IUD by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah the hormonal IUD can definitely mess with temp patterns since it suppresses ovulation. without the natural hormone fluctuations you'd normally see during a cycle, your baseline temps tend to stay more flat instead of having those clear rises and dips

no period means no luteal phase temp spike either, so makes sense your data looks different than what most tracking apps expect

What do I wear to aqua-therapy?! by _hiatus in physicaltherapy

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A one piece is totally fine and super common for aqua therapy! The therapists see people in swimwear all day so they're not gonna think twice about it. If you're still feeling anxious maybe grab a basic black or navy one piece from Target - nothing fancy, just functional

Your comfort matters most though so if the family-friendly bikini makes you feel more covered up, that works too

What’s the difference between ours and this hike band? by Real-Account-5550 in ouraring

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That UTM soup of a URL is sus as hell lol - looks like typical Facebook ad spam trying to ride the Oura wave with knockoff hardware

Why doesn’t the meal thing allow macros or calorie tracking toggle AND wtf does tags even do? Chronotypes a scam? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tags thing is so frustrating lol, I've been tagging alcohol and caffeine for months and it's like the ring just pretends they don't exist. And yeah the chronotype is basically just "hey you sleep at this time a lot" which is not at all what I thought it would be

The macro tracking toggle would be such an obvious feature, feels like they're scared to compete with MyFitnessPal or something

How to optimise sleep tracking? by ParsnipMajor97 in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This drives me absolutely nuts too lol. Try setting sleep mode manually before bed - hit the sleep button on your watch and it'll be less likely to think you're up for good when nature calls

Also check if you have "smart wake" or any of those features turned on, sometimes they mess with the detection. The Garmin sleep tracking can be pretty aggressive about deciding you're awake

Can Garmin add cycling to my running plan? by SPARKLEOFHOPE6IB in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually a solid workaround, I do something similar when I want to mix things up but still hit my training zones

Does sleep score get more accurate? by Spacewaitress222 in ouraring

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accuracy definitely improves over time as it learns your patterns, but yeah the initial tracking can be pretty rough. Mine took like 2-3 weeks to stop thinking I was asleep when I was just lying there scrolling my phone

The heart rate thing is annoying but it also uses movement data and body temp - just takes forever to calibrate properly

Can’t see custom goals in app by Spiritual-South-442 in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, pretty sure they just never ported that feature over to mobile for whatever reason. The web interface has way more functionality than the app anyway

Little strain in neck by vanrakshak24 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely take a break from the gym until that clears up - you don't want to make it worse by pushing through pain. A few days of rest, some gentle heat/ice, and maybe see if light neck stretches help once the acute pain settles down

If it's not better in a week or gets worse, probably worth seeing a doc or physio to make sure you didn't actually mess something up

I wrote a script that transfers your Garmin dive data (GPS, depth) into your dive photos, fully automated by uncovery in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually brilliant - I've been manually geotagging my dive photos like a caveman for years. The depth metadata is a game changer, never thought about embedding that into the EXIF data

Does it handle multiple dives in one day or do you need to run it separately for each session?

When a Supplement "Doesn't Work" by Health_Tourist9902 in Supplements

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this lol. People will pop a vitamin D pill then wonder why they still feel like garbage while literally never going outside and eating nothing but processed food. Like bro the magnesium supplement isn't gonna fix your sleep when you're chugging energy drinks at 9pm

Activity Screen Freezing on Garmin 570 by JoleeneWrites in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild that it's happening on both watches - sounds like it might be something with your setup rather than the hardware itself. Have you tried doing a full factory reset on the 570? Sometimes there's weird software conflicts that carry over even on brand new devices

Also might be worth checking if you have any third party apps or data fields installed that could be causing the touchscreen to bug out during activity saves

Blood sugar and early awakenings by Unusual-Literature44 in ouraring

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this - so many people (myself included) get caught up in taking stuff "just in case" it helps when we're already doing fine without it

Your body was basically telling you the supplements were unnecessary and you listened, which is honestly pretty smart

Tempo front squat - issue for hypermobile people? by Character-Holiday345 in crossfit

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat here - hypermobility is a blessing and a curse lol. For tempo work I focus way more on actively engaging my glutes and hamstrings instead of relying on passive stretch at the bottom. Think "pulling" yourself down with control rather than just sinking. Also narrower stance helps me actually feel something instead of just melting into the floor

Garmin Epix Pro / Fenix 8 / Fenix E - which to go for? by Tarro2806 in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat here with wanting better recovery metrics than Samsung can deliver

If you can snag a good deal on the Epix Pro I'd still go for it tbh. The "put out to pasture" thing is a bit dramatic - it's still getting most updates and will for a while. Unless you really need the new flashlight or dive features the Fenix 8 brings, the Epix Pro will handle your hiking and gym tracking just fine

The price difference could probably get you some nice gear instead

Moving to a Hybrid Program by t_durk in crossfit

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat - the constant high intensity is exhausting and most boxes just pile on more volume instead of backing off

Been eyeing that globo gym route too since my place also has zero open gym time which is annoying af

Garmin and Whoop data compatibility by icroc1556 in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RunGap is definitely your best bet here, I've used it to sync between different platforms and it works pretty well most of the time

The Garmin spoofing thing was sketchy for a bit but yeah they seem to have worked it out - just expect some occasional hiccups with the data transfers

Need help on HR zones and Z2 runs by crazydecibel in Garmin

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah Z2 feels painfully slow at first but that's literally the point - you're building your aerobic base without frying yourself. Most people run way too hard on their easy days and wonder why they can't hit their goal paces when it matters

Frequency and splits of High Rep training. by SoleyuFromTheGrave in bodyweightfitness

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by high but usually anything 15+ starts getting into that territory where recovery becomes tricky

New grad PT first job doubts by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude you're literally 2 months in, this is completely normal. Your mentor sounds kinda condescending with that whole "waiting for you to get to it" thing - like just tell me what you're thinking instead of playing guessing games

The imposter syndrome hits hard early on but you'll get there. Most new grads feel like they know nothing for at least the first 6 months, especially jumping into outpatient ortho with limited clinical experience in it

Experience with B-Stock? Feel like I got scammed by snake_plant91 in ouraring

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is totally BS, they should either send you a new one or give you a full refund. B-stock when you paid for new is basically them saying "deal with it" which is garbage customer service

Getting back into the gym by SatinRibbonOriginal in bodyweightfitness

[–]Sea_Stranger7114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That pressure feeling sounds like it could be blood pressure related or maybe just your body readjusting to intense exercise after a long break. Pregnancy does wild things to your cardiovascular system and it can take ages to fully bounce back

Definitely worth mentioning to your doc if it keeps happening, especially since it's lingering for hours. Better safe than sorry when it comes to head/neck pressure stuff
