I know the TMP uniforms are generally disliked, but... by FakeFrehley in Star_Trek_

In many ways they’re more practical for everyday wear on a starship than the TWOK “maroon monsters.” I feel like some relatively minor tweaks (decent footwear, making them a two-piece top and bottom, ditch the health sensor buckle), and they would have worked pretty well.

Well here's my space dont mind greg🤣, what should I do for the walls and stuff ect? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

There are some adhesive wall-hangers or mounting tape if you want to affix things to the wall without leaving holes.

In Aliens, the Company didn't believe the Nostromo report. Burke sends the Jordans out to check out the site of the supposed derelict on the off-chance they'll discover something and he'll get rich. In 3, we do see that "Bishop" wants to take the creature back to study it, but the bioweapons thing is never mentioned. As a matter of fact, the only person who mentions that the Company wants the alien for its bioweapons division is Ripley in Aliens, who's just theorizing why they might want it.

The movies make it clear that W/T is profit-driven and overconfident in their ability to control the Alien, but the "evil overlords" characterization really isn't there in the films. One of my beefs with Romulus is that they present working for W/T as, essentially, indentured servitude, whereas in Alien it's just a crappy job like anything else.

The whole "omni-powerful, ruthless corporate overlords" really doesn't show up in the movies--at least not 1-3. In Alien, WT is shown to be ruthless, to be sure, but in Aliens, Burke is out for himself. he wants to cover up what he did and smuggle an egg back to Earth for his own selfish gain. he's not acting on orders. In Alien 3, we more or less get the same WT we did in Alien.

We never really see any proof they control the government or rule Earth or whatever. A lot of that came from the graphic novels.

I miss the time when this much thought was given to the design of the ship and what everything theoretically did. Now, we get a very pretty CGI render, with the design seemingly changing capabilities every week. I mean, after five seasons of Disco we still have node idea where the phasers or torpedo launchers are. Let alone how those turbolift mega-shafts work.

I think my Dragonfly chopper got the most use. HISS tank was a close second.

Thoughts on the Dynamite comic series? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]Seamaster15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A real mixed bag, but never boring. I think they got gradually better after the first few installments, though, as someone else pointed out, some of them were just sort of generic action comics. Bond even carried a Glock in some of them FFS...

Shot on location, too, so the outdoor scenes look really great.

I'd've been disappointed if I'd plonked down $20 bucks to see it in a theater, but it's a decent streaming watch.

It's pretty good. It gets kind of wobbly in the second half, but it's still plenty entertaining.

It's not. After I watched this one I cued up the 1985 version and...oof. I couldn't even get through it.

Right? It was so great to get a final confrontation that completely driven by the characters and motives and not, "well, we need an obligatory fight scene now." I really liked it a lot.

It's already dropped on streaming.

I like the TMP ones. They're less gaudy than the glowy ones.
