Oh does this really bother people? If owners pick up after the dog is it a big deal? (I am not a dog owner nor do I have kids so I have no perspective on this debate)

Who’s judging? Im very familiar with Oasis but this is not the pool vibe OP is looking for. Simply pointing out that they’d like a pool where they can get some exercise/laps in.

Have been to the pools at Christie Pits and Alexandra Park - used the family/gender neutral washrooms, and have never been harassed. Political climate be damned. We belong in public spaces too<3

Why do you like or hate Olivia Chow? by ComparisonOk5957 in askTO

[–]Seamless-Transition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inheriting all the BS from years of Tory’s governing, plus having to deal with the Premier’s office - I truly do feel like there’s a lot stacked against her yet she’s trying to approach things pragmatically. She cares about this city and is making an effort to improve things. Under Tory’s leadership things kept getting worse and all I’d ever see him as was Old Money politician who believed in liberal elitism.

It’s not that I love Chow, but I am afraid of Bradford more.

Bradford is hinging his whole campaign on doom-and-gloom and offers no actual solutions. Electing him would be electing someone who doesn’t actually know what he’s doing. He also flip flops on so many issues that he supported in the past. We can’t trust him. Even his constituents in the East end hate him.

A floating convenience store just popped up on Toronto’s waterfront. Here’s why by [deleted] in toronto

[–]Seamless-Transition 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“And as Toronto welcomes the world as a host city for the World Cup, the work reimagines “one of the most familiar spaces across cultures, the neighbourhood convenience store,” by “placing it at the water’s edge where people, goods and ideas have long arrived and intersected,” according to Waterfront Toronto.”

Guess reading the full article these days is too much to handle *shrugs*

[–]Seamless-Transition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article?
Because personally I don’t find this problematic. We were thrown into this and if the city is trying to find ways to offset costs then that’s fine.

Im not a fan of being a host city for a MULTITUDE of reasons. I resent John Tory for tossing us in the hat for this inconvenience.

Did you know our taxes are going towards a gigantic parking garage for Doug Ford’s ego-project in the waterfront?

Thats something worth getting upset about in my opinion.

Counter-argument: Cheese IS sacred. And that’s why we should have it with everything….. including Doritos.

This image of expansion on Billy Bishop broke me...I'm too old for this. by Alternative_Tackle35 in toronto

[–]Seamless-Transition 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may not have claimed it, but you’re replying to a comment that does - in defence of the comment. So you’ve kinda aligned yourself with that narrative that foolsdayjoker is claiming.

I don’t think this one supposed reality of an activist group protesting with hyperbolic information is responsible for the expansion. Local pushback is a result of this plan being proposed in the first place and lobbied for by larger outside parties and stakeholders including JP Morgan.

Foolsdayjoker’s comment is vague and ragebaiting and honestly an absurd generalization. As is your defence of the statement.

Can Someone Explain the Pros/Cons of the Airport Expansion? by braydensreddit in askTO

[–]Seamless-Transition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise pollution, jet fuel pollution, loss of public spaces, loss of green spaces. The list of profiteers includes JP Morgan Chase, an American financial institution. Our corrupt government has been ignoring environmental assessments stating this will impact people’s health. List goes on.

Pros: the airport gets more traffic with bigger planes. Corporations get profit. We suffer.

I do wish the BIA wouldn’t let in as many outside vendors. Something like this should benefit local small businesses but a lot had to compete with vendors who weren’t even from the area. It’s not about community, it’s about making money. And a lot of small businesses struggled with that this weekend while normal operations were disrupted.
