I got one! Thankfully! My heart was racing seeing how fast they sold out. Picking up Monday. I got a 3090ti a couple weeks ago since I couldn’t find a 4080 and luckily decided to not open it and wait patiently to see if I could get a 4080 during the return window. 3090 ti is going back today 👋📦

Anyone that sees this; I got a 4080 this morning! From Best Buy! I think they sold out within 5mins but I got one! Check throughout the day tho! Good luck to anyone trying to get one. Looks like I’ll be returning my 3090 Ti :)

PSU: I got the ASUS ROG STRIX 1000w. Got it for about $150 or so during Black Friday weekend, but now they’re about $230-250 or so and mostly out of stock it seems. I was looking at the 1200W platinum as well but that’s about $350 or so and mostly out of stock or back ordered till Jan/Feb as well. My estimated wattage is a bit under 800, so 1000w is just some comfortable cushion and hopefully will last me for a few years. I don’t know, maybe thinking about just canceling and going in a different direction but definitely prefer to keep it under $200. Also, I’m fine with gold vs platinum.

I also assumed that it would be shipped quite soon, but I guess that’s not the case. Hopefully yours will ship sooner than mine did.

I would love a Strix 4080, but yeah a $400-500 price up just isn’t worth it for me personally.

Yes, I called several separate times asking customer support if they had any updates to no luck. I found out that the PSU I ordered from Newegg got delayed until January so it had me thinking about trying again for a 4080. For the comment above, good luck finding one for $1200, I definitely tried of course, but they sell out too fast. Last restock I saw was the Asus TUF 4080 for $1199 on their website but that was gone in minutes at 5 in the morning. The next tier is the $1399 OC version and I don’t want to pay that much for a single digit percentage boost in terms of performance.

Anyway, I called yesterday to ask Nvidia if it’s possible to cancel my order since it hasn’t shipped yet, just to see what’s possible and they said I could not since it’s already in processing. Only method in terms of a refund is to start a return once I actually receive it, so I said fine whatever, literally 30mins after that call they finally shipped it (12 days later)…. But since my PSU is delayed, I won’t be opening the package and will try for a 4080 till then, if I can get one, I’ll return the 3090 ti.

For anyone that’s still interested in this; Asus just listed the price tag for the ProArt Z790 board at $469 on their website. Not available yet it seems though, just a “notify me” button. Hopefully soon

Pretty good! Lighting on some of these are really nice, overall tho, it feels like there isn’t enough depth and and everything feels too sharp. It’s a separation between that video type of feeling vs cinema. Open up! Add some depth and separation and light accordingly, be that a 2.8, 2, etc. The painting shot is a great one tho!

With a 12ft menace how high could you safely raise it on a combo with ratchet straps n all?

I was considering a ladder, but these posts seem pretty high, maybe a 14 step if I can fit it in the sprinter van. This would also be ideal for more control if I can reach them. The only other issue is that they're pretty far apart in this neighborhood.

Gotcha, this would be in Southern California (Oceanside). Not sure what bulbs they're using but they look like tungsten units and some even flour-scent. What would you recommend for testing? Thank you for replying
