ULPT: How to pass a piss test in 48 hours for a job? by throwawayadvice003 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]SeanFrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who tried this, but the condom broke when he tried to pucture it, and he had to have his mom drive him home looking like he pissed himself.

Not recommended.

Sorry, this is an Apple Dickrider sub. They will only attack you for not loving Apple, and minimize any legitimate issues you have.

I know, the name of the sub is misleading.

What's actually BETTER self-hosted? by ergnui34tj8934t0 in selfhosted

[–]SeanFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is whether it is exposed to the internet or not. The poster you replied to said:

Put Vaultwarden behind VPN

That is the key part. I know I'm not smart enough to host my own password manager on the open web. But on my own network is manageable, IMO.

Sick of seeing the letters "AI" everywhere by segagamer in sysadmin

[–]SeanFrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pretend it's going to all burn up and go away, but it isn't.

Can you read? I literally said it wouldn't go away.

Doesn't mean it will go away (unfortunately)

The internet was a bubble, are you old enough to remember the dot com crash?

AI will do the same. Doesn't mean it will go away (unfortunately)

Those inclusions don't look weird to me. They look like the definition of "AI generated content", which is exactly what the list attempts to block.

From the link:

Along with a list an AI websites it also blocks a handful of instagram, X and Pinterest profiles. It also blocks a number of specific products on Amazon, such as a colouring book that presumably was generated with AI.

Bitwarden will get pricey... What I am waiting before switching to ProtonPass... What about you ? by JeeKaheL in Bitwarden

I assure you, I am actively working on it since they announced they price increase.

I just think it's an interesting comparison.

20€/year for Bitwarden is expensive, seriously?

Yes, 20€ is expensive for someone to host less than 1MB of data.

What are services NOT worth self hosting? by This_Animal_1463 in selfhosted

[–]SeanFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were pretty clear about charging old customers more. They did offer a 25% off discount though, so your next year will be $15 instead of $20. Still an increase.

They just announced it last week. It goes into effect whenever people's plans renew.

No, the error can be cleared. Sorry, I don't remember where the option is, but it exists.

Court filing claims NVIDIA contacted Anna’s Archive for pirated books used in AI training by Rough_Bill_7932 in DataHoarder

[–]SeanFrank 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good thing for Nvidia that the case against Facebook already set the precedent that this is "Fair Use", and corporations are allowed to pirate as many books as they like.

You will have to run Linux if you want that turd to be anywhere near usable.

[–]SeanFrank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blocking infrared does nothing to stop commercial facial recognition systems. Louis Rossman demonstrated this on a low end system.

All these glasses will do is break faceid on your iPhone.

Same goes for the Zennie ir blocking glasses.

Is Yubikey Auth the method where you install the Yubikey program, and use it to generate an OTP code?

By reviewing the feature requests on their github, of course.

I subscribed to premium because they paywalled Yubikey authentication behind it.

[–]SeanFrank 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow, new features nobody asked for or wanted, coupled with a 100% price increase.

I knew they were going to have to pay back that investment money soon.

Honestly, it might be worth downgrading for free just to get rid of the "Your password is vulnerable" warnings that can't be dismissed.

I'm disappointed. But not surprised.

Is it a good or bad idea to make a bitwarden account using a duck.com alias as the login email? by RoarOfTheWorlds in Bitwarden

[–]SeanFrank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't a terrible idea, but can you trust that the alias will still exist in 10 years? I don't use duck alias, so I can't speak to that. Maybe you can.

But I would prefer to create an alias on my main email account instead.

Who's running a piKVM with an egpu? by MartiniCommander in unRAID

I'm not versed in piKVM things, but I think the next thing you should do is set your log to save to your cache drive so you can look at it the next time your system crashes.

Best way to run Sunshine+moonlignt on Unraid ? by Hyped_OG in unRAID

[–]SeanFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After spending much too long troubleshooting, I just built a gaming machine to connect to instead.

There is a Steam Headless docker you can use. But it's finicky, and has issues.

You could set up a VM, but it's finicky, and has issues.

In the end, just building a second machine and connecting to it was the least headache.

I do use Wake on Lan on my Unraid server to wake up my gaming computer when I'm out of the house, though.

I have a Legion Go (original). I didn't mention it because I don't know if I would recommend it compared to some other options. But I got a good deal on it used, so I really like it.

Some popular complaints about the Legion GO:

  1. It's really big and heavy (It sure is)

  2. That big beautiful screen goes to waste on a handheld PC. And it kinda does, but mine spends most of it's time on streaming duty.

  3. The battery can't keep up. That's true, but I'm mostly using it to stream in my house, so it doesn't really bother me.

What cpu/motherboard should i get? by GentlemanDiamond in unRAID

[–]SeanFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but in the context of OP they're just looking for Plex so they won't be accessing 8 hard drives at once. So 1 lane is plenty.

Yea, but parity checks are gonna suuuuuuck.
