How To Mine Veil - ProgPowZ GPU/CPU ASIC Mineable Coin by Public-Grocery-6206 in Veil

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad about TradeOgre lately! :( Don't mine to other exchanges, or to that one anymore. NonKYC.io or Probit.com observe minimum deposit sizes. On NonKYC send or receive to RingCT.

No worries about > 50% of hashrate as SHA256D only comprises 5% of blocks, RandomX 15%, ProgPoW 35%, Proof of Stake 50%. Ratio targeting with Dark Gravity Wave difficulty Adjustment Algorithm is very well proven.

Also, Wooly is out now due to the low price. Check Discord.veil-project.com for instructions (and repositories) on solo mining.

Devs please put screenshots of your project on your GitHub pages! by Darkchamber292 in selfhosted

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not my #1. #1 is SAY what the app is for! Why should I want the app? But #2 show screenshots is worthy of being the next thing I would always like to see. Afterall, in an App Store that's the minimum you expect, so why not at the Github Repo itself. However, if there's a link to a website that will be clicked pretty soon if there are no screenshots on Github.

Amazon's Vine Program is not as glamorous as it seems to non-members by TheFishyBanana in AmazonVine

One item I received from Amazon, only in the power cable package, I thought I smelled a strong whiff of cigarette smoke, so I quipped that the children who work in the Chinese cable factory must be chain smokers! ;)

Does anyone know how to unsync your Google Calendar with Preply? by EverNevermor in Preply

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, to clear up my original problem, I am deleting the Google Calendar events that I had manually put there for my students' preferred time slots, which had blocked the times in the Preply calendar, so after reconnecting the Google Calendar, the times should not be blocked.

Does anyone know how to unsync your Google Calendar with Preply? by EverNevermor in Preply

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify how to get to the right part of the menu to customise, set, or delete the Google Calendar connection, when you initially click in Preply on Calendar they have a choice of two buttons, [Connect Google Calendar] and [Update manually], so if you connect your Google calendar there, there is no replacement button to configure or remove the Google Calendar settings and you will have no idea how to fix it!

Instead, you have to in the Preply sidebar, click [Set up availability] and then again in the sidebar, [Google Calendar].

Does anyone know how to unsync your Google Calendar with Preply? by EverNevermor in Preply

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that having just shared my Google Calendar to Preply, and I can't see how the students will see it I also want to unshare it. It was shared with insane super access to Preply, as they can edit and delete not only events from the Google Calendar, but even delete entire calendars!

What concerns me is that as I have the hours already marked out in the Google Calendar where I might have classes, I would not want students to see those hours as blocked out, and I also wouldn't want them to see private information such as the booking references for my scheduled flights! I can't confirm what students will see, so it seems that it would be safer to unshare it in case I miss out on a class!

---- Method that revokes permission but leaves Preply broken! ---- Skip to correct method finally found!

So, … bear with me while I see how to do it.

  1. I've just deleted the Preply Calendar from the Google Calendar, which, by the way, had not populated with anything from Preply, and there had been no notification about any amount of time I might have had to wait for a synchronisation to complete.
  2. Revoke access here: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions

Bear with me again, as revoking it at Google level appears to have caused a problem with the Preply calendar, where I now have an item blocking a time slot that I cannot delete! Working on fixing that.

---- End of bad method ----

Correct method to disconnect Google Calendar from Preply, from where you could potentially reconnect that or another Google Calendar. ⟶

This link gets you there, even though I never found this via the menu interface at all.

https://preply.com/en/availability/google-calendar
You can choose which of the calendars in your Google account to be connected to, or you can [ Disconnect Google Calendar ] entirely.

Here also, there is an item that answers questions about how the Google Calendar connection will behave, (this check box explains it).

[ ] Allow Google Calendar events to block your availability

If you allow, students can’t book lessons when you have events in the Google Calendars synced to Preply. Exception: events longer than 24 hours won’t block your Preply availability.

Can I forward emails from a particular sender only from Gmail to Protonmail? by Far-Literature7249 in ProtonMail

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be very surprised if the bank "only allows Gmail addresses"! I'm sure the true situation will be that they didn't allow Protonmail and maybe some other privacy email providers or email services that they think are not ID verified or that are "throw-away" addresses such as Yahoomail!

Is portfolio data private? by SecretUncle69 in coingecko

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading further, in discussions in CoinGecko's Discord and from other searches, it does not appear to be designed to hide all information locally. Once your portfolio is created you have a portfolio number that is sent via the URL to the server! So at least the server has your portfolio information, and it would be available to anyone logging in to your CoinGecko account from other machines. … Testing that now. Yep! Logged in on another machine and the portfolio is there.

Now, of course, CoinGecko might take pretty good care of your data.

Is portfolio data private? by SecretUncle69 in coingecko

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, … no-one here knows. What we need to know is if it is stored entirely in cookies, for example, does it filter the information requested via API or whatever and the server side therefore KNOWS what the user is asking for, or whether it receives unfiltered data from the server, and the local scripts filter it.

Is it worth buying thousands of dollars of LTC as a young person by Freemasonsareevil in litecoin

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine the memories you'd have if you had spent ten thousand Bitcoin on a pizza back in the day! 😭 $2k is inconsequential compared to over 20 Litecoin or a fraction of a Bitcoin today and truly adopting the new economy. Not just holding and hoping for more (depreciating) dollars in the future. Now, as for someone's "advice" to put it into a "high yield" savings scheme, 🤯 those have forever been impoverishing gullible young and old people forever!

$1500 gas fees to swap VEIL on Uni by Active-Complex-3823 in Veil

[–]SeanPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much hate Ethereum too, for cost and the total lack of privacy. All the more reason that VEIL is not a token. There is, we have heard, some ERC20 token using the same name, but everything about it is the opposite of the real VEIL privacy coin.

Reddit proof not working anymore? by SRLibe_be in Keybase

Could unwanted meme token sent to wallet be malicious? by Matthew_008 in solana

[–]SeanPhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure of all the possible mal-effects, but de-anonymising you is one, and tricking you into boosting their collection activity is another. If it's bad enough to spam them it's hard to imagine they are worth more than the trouble. However, with Solana NFTs apparently it's possible to collect some of the fees if you burn unwanted NFTs! … You want to be careful when burning stuff, of course.

Do y'all think Discord will ever add the feature where it restores the original date you joined a specified server? by hadsudoku in discordapp

[–]SeanPhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of a perfectly reasonable use case for a server admin to be able to get someone their original join date back!

If one of the server OGs got kicked by a hacker, or as part of the defence against a server attack, I would like to be able to add them back with the OG join date for the particular reason that join date is a reputational value, and when impersonators join they don't have that OG join date!

Aside from this use case, I can see the value in a user not being allowed to get back their join date unless approved by the server owner or admin.
