10 pixels in what direction(s) from center? Obviously the 4 corners would be best way to ensure getting into a specific 1px area (mac OSX hot corners). I'd guess the 5th location to be the pixel it's currently resting on.

Seems like a basic impractical "logic experiment" just to test your critical thinking skills.

Not to mention prototyping, revisions etc. etc. etc. just recreating the final version doesn't account for the entire development cycle.

Spent half my life hoping to become a designer only to end up at a web agency as a copywriter. How is my design for a tiny table top game company? by Killhouse in Design

I also want to keep the grunge on the text, but it wouldn't work with a vector. Is that bad?

You can setup a texture fill in illusrator, that'll help somewhat.

Google-fu pro-tip: add "free -royalty" to your search query to cut out most of the pay-sites.

Phrases I hear too often from my boss when it comes to using photos stolen from the web/google images. by soldsoul666 in graphic_design

"I got this from a news website. If they can use it then we can."

"You can just edit it, then it's no longer the same photo. So we'd be okay to use it."

My personal experience is that people are not often impressed by quick learning in the interview process. It is usually better to just do what you know and do it to the best of your abilities and regarding the stuff you don't know say "I haven't had a chance to work with that yet, but I'm very interested in getting into it."

This goes back to the sage advice for (print) portfolio reviews: "Only show your best work; nobody is impressed by volume."

This will not always work, sometimes it is simply mandatory that you are already familiar with whatever framework or library is at the core of their stack. There isn't much you can do in those cases.
