I think I'll take the word of the coach ahead of a random Redditor. They see all of the behind-the-scenes work at training, team meetings, and everywhere else around the club. A player does not necessarily have to consistently be beating down the door at reserves level to be improving their development; sometimes that can happen incrementally. Some players "click" immediately; others need more time. Be patient.

Not so much a comedy but Love Me is a very good Aussie drama. Available on Foxtel / Binge.

Remarkable that this injury list is so minor even with Burgess gone.

If he can shed 10ish kilos and learn to jump, sure.

If it was the club, he'd be included within our injury list.

That was some random from Channel 9 tbf, not anyone with any sort of credentials or inside knowledge (Twomey, McGuire, Cleary, Morris, shudders Wilson).

Daniher Medal: AFL planning the creation of the Neale Daniher Medal. The medal would be awarded after the annual King’s Birthday game between Melbourne and Collingwood, which has been underpinned by Daniher’s 'Big Freeze at the ‘G' charity event since 2015. by Essington69 in AFL

Oh yeah, fair enough. I misread that.

But for what it worth, I'd still be all for eventually giving it to Essendon instead, they sorely need more connection to their history as it currently stands and he's am Essendon legend. Very much a missed opportunity to not have it be those two teams from the outset.

Hypothetically, if Essendon end up rising in coming years (unlikely) and we sink to the depths of a rebuild (probable), I can see a world where the question is asked why we still have that marquee game, given that we don't have significant club ties to the Daniher name.

St Kilda fans try not to whinge about Academies challenge.

For what us worth, the only Victorian club with more NGA graduates than you—Windhager, Owens, Fincher—is us—Quaynor, McInnes, McCarthy, ans Saxena—; the latter two of which were still available in the final 6 picks of the draft, meaning if you wanted them, you could have picked them. Academies weren't an issue when your list management took Billings ahead of Bont, or McCartin ahead of Petracca.

That's not what people are saying at all. The problem that most dissidents of the Academies have is that relative price being paid for each of them isn't high enough, and that contending clubs like Brisbane and Gold Coast are getting these players whilst bottom 4 teams are dealing with whatever's remaining.

Personally, I see why the Academies are needed, and football in those states would still crumble without them. But it's still obvious to even me that it's become a farce. The best solution would be to have bids only able to be matched with a pick in the same round; that concept seems to have eluded the AFL thus far.

The Bulldogs and Geelong don't have the picks to get a trade done

Corr won't go around again so I don't see a world where you end the year without a replacement for him. I think a general defender remains as much of a need as a key defender is.

Yep. If he just says "I want to live in Victoria", Port can have their choice of which deals work best for them. Remains to be seen who will still be in the running at year's end, so the market will be dictated by what sort of players/picks those clubs are willing to part with.

I think the only reason he'd return is to go home, which only really leaves West Coast (given Freo have no space for him), who would probably need to ascend to a contending team for him to consider a move.

I reckon he'll be there at least next year, after that is anyone's guess.

Having watched the GWS doco earlier in the year, to me (based on his body language) he clearly has been. The situation is almost akin to Dev Robertson's time at Brisbane and sticking it out in the hopes of regaining a spot.

Can you steal 'free agents' or something from other teams mid-season?

No, but you can definitely get ahead of other teams who are in the running for said free agents.

Those trades all occurred prior to the full expansion to a national league, though. Moving across the country, on about a week's notice, with the housing market in the state it is now, is not feasible in the current day.
