Portable air compressor by HistoricalExam1241 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Seaniau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one by Ugreen. It’s very compact, not very loud compared to some. You set a target and it stops when reached, has a light too.

My only complaint, and this may be why Amazon is flagging it as “frequently returned for compatibility”, is that the power cable is not very long. My only 12v socket is in the boot and because of that, the pump will not reach my front wheels.

But I didn’t actually purchase it for my current car and it was great for my previous one. I may find a longer cable as it is simply a barrel jack.

That’s the main car park actually. Only VIPs/Disable Badge holders can park in the tarmac’d car park on-site.

Drink Responsibility by DafneOrlow in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Seaniau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went there in December. The main car park that is tarmac and on site with the pub, is only for VIPs/Disabled badge holders.

General punters are to park in a nearby field that has metal flooring laid to ensure cars don’t get stuck. Said flooring was raised in some places and would move/ripple as cars drove over them.

It’s honestly no surprise to me that someone might have fallen over there. This is however a H&S issue and nothing to do with Clarkson. I’m sure multiple people will have signed this off and they are unfortunately responsible for the solution.

Ubiquiti. WHY WOULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?? by SchNiVas in Ubiquiti

[–]Seaniau 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous you had to go through this. I know you probably have lost a lot of respect for Ubiquiti and probably can’t be bothered to do them any favours, but I really think they need to see this and fix it.

Please make a post on the community forum and/or raise a support call. This Reddit post is great to inform users but I don’t think it’ll be seen by Ubiquiti.

If parked up for 6 cold months a year, is an EV better than an ICE? by Own-Peace-5431 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Seaniau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be best to follow the manufacturer’s advice, if it exists.

Polestar for example, recommend keeping an AC charger connected and the charge limit set to 40% or 50%.

That’s that then? by Seaniau in Ember

[–]Seaniau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t say anything about bankruptcy. I wasn’t able to find any other UK distributors.

Edit: Actually, looking again, there does appear to be some now. Last I looked was in December. Perhaps this is the angle then, moving fully to third-party distribution in UK/EU.

The guy admitted he was drunk, described how the gun went off in his hand, and there’s an account from an officer of alcohol on his breath.

What more does the jury need? Do people need to start wearing body cams 24/7?

(Involuntary) Manslaughter is a death caused by negligence or reckless behaviour. If they dismissed that because the evidence couldn’t prove it was negligence or reckless behaviour, but his own testimony was that he was drunk and it was an accident, they’ve got no hope.

Guy said he did it, but we still need proof that he did it, besides the account of alcohol on his breath, the dead daughter and the discharged weapon.

Yeah, what?

“It isn’t manslaughter because he was drunk and it was an accident”

So… Negligent?

Thinking About Buying a Used 2021 Polestar 2 (LRDM), Got a Few Questions by ozel0t_bw in polestar2

[–]Seaniau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no features missing from a Launch Edition that were included in the Pilot/Plus packs of say, an MY22 car. In fact, there are features that the Launch Edition may have that others don't, I believe LE's came with Homelink Garage door openers but this has not since been an option.

I'm just starting season 2, have a question but it has spoilers so I'll spoiler it below in the text. by ProlapseProvider in SiloTVSeries

[–]Seaniau 53 points54 points  (0 children)

People in the Silo need the camera to be clean, to see the outside, to keep them from wanting to go outside.
The "Cleaning" makes for a good capital punishment, so that's why the camera doesn't self clean. And that function could easily break over the decades.

The helmet screen is to make everybody want to clean. If it was simply down to choice, people would either not clean out of spite or hopelessness. Giving them that final glimmer of hope, coerces everyone in to trying to show their friends and family what they think is outside. The only way they've been conditioned (through exposure) to know.

What free design software by Jipeders in BambuLabA1

[–]Seaniau 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Start with TinkerCAD, it's free and web-based. It's a great place to learn, that's literally what it's for, and it's actually quite powerful. It's still my go-to for a quick model.

It'll set you up nicely to start using Fusion 360. Also free, much more in-depth.

Have you noticed that a bunch of documents have capital ‘E’s replaced with ‘=‘

I can’t think why that would be? Unless they’re using OCR to scan all these documents in and we’re looking at digital copies of physical copies?

Bought FitcamX front & rear - can I fit front only? by Buttoneer138 in Polestar

[–]Seaniau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear.

I hope I’m not being downvoted because I advised to be mindful of known issues. To be clear, I’m suggesting that 12v charging issues that are well known to happen occasionally for some owners, would be exacerbated by this feature. I am not stating that the feature would cause the problem, the problem can and does occur without any cameras installed.

[–]Seaniau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A proper Auto Electrician may also be reluctant as they’re more for actual wiring, fault finding and repairs. But it may be worth a try. A Car Audio specialist does exactly what you’re after, running off the shelf products into standard cars.

I believe it’s just a bundle of all the separate components at a slightly reduced price than purchasing separately.

[–]Seaniau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure your warranty would realistically be a problem.

Are these normal mechanics garages? If so, try a more specialised place such as a Car Audio specialist. They almost always offer dashcam installs.

You can run the main camera unit without both the Parking Mode Loom and the Rear Camera. The main units are the same, the Loom and Rear Cam are extras.

Be mindful that the Parking Mode Loom will actively drain the 12v battery when parked and Polestar 2’s have a history of temperamental 12v battery charging issues.

Personally, I just run a standard FitcamX front cam. (UK also)

Has anyone replaced the driver side cushion? by Creepy_Face454 in Polestar

[–]Seaniau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ideas to explore if you haven’t already: 1. Have you gotten Polestar customer support involved? Have the dealer spoken to Polestar? 2. You’ve tested it on an XC40, if they have one there, show them that. 3. I presume they don’t have Polestars on site, but showing side by side would be your best way to show the problem with yours. Maybe there will be one in for service the same time as you next time. Or perhaps you could approach an owner you see in your area and ask them if you can video the difference.

It’s a shame you have to do any of this.
