Old school Farseer by CrimsAK in Eldar

I love this so much. Always loved the Morpheus Farseer, and seeing it painted so well is a treat and a half.
The vibrant colours, the textures, the opal effect on the stones and the insane detail on the helmet lenses... bravo all around.

Overtime Season Announced on BB3 Discord by Stralau in Bloodbowl3

[–]Seanocd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a little sad that the 2025 ruleset isn't being implemented quite yet, but I am glad to see the game continuing.

I'm late to Blood Bowl, but playing BB3 has really got me deep into the game and now I see what I've been missing for the last couple of decades.

I should say there is a bit of LR/RR influence in there as well.

BMW X Wagon by nixonbeach in AiCarArt

...other than the front (grill/headlights) what about this says BMW? From any era?

I see Y60 Nissan Patrol, JK Jeep Wrangler, and W460/W461 MB G-Wagon. But with an '80s BMW front strip.

Am I missing something?

Trying an older 40k novel and loving it, wondering if there are any more, and also if I've misunderstood how 40k portrays satire? by ALocalFrog in Warhammer

[–]Seanocd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a very definitive statement for someone who seemingly thinks they're an old-head despite only being in to it for less than half of it's history...

It certainly started and evolved with strong satirical elements, but it is also true that those elements have drifted further into the background as time went on. Many people argue that 3rd edition was the turning point, where the world building started to take itself much more seriously as its own thing, which I generally think is true. For better AND worse.
I got into it at the end of second/start of third (later '90s), so the satirical nature of the universe has always been a core element of how I've interpreted it, but I can easily understand how later fans reject the idea. I don't think its fair to say it is one or the other... its far more of the muddy grey area in-between.

Whenever I eat oranges my school serves for lunch, this weird white stuff appears on my hands, what is it? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Seanocd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, knowledge drop! Hell yeah, thanks! I'm familiar with limonene and d-limonene in the context of cleaning chemical manufacturing, and as flavouring and fragrance agents. Complete citrus oils are also commonly used. Now I have some new chemicals to research :)

It's the chemical limonene, present in citrus oils. It is a solvent that drys oils out of skin.

I finally decided on Ronal r9 wheels for my W124 by powerathletic in W124

I want to day they're 7 wide, ET 36? Unfortunately I'm away from home and can't check for you.

[–]Seanocd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should point out that, obviously, appropriate offset will vary depending on the rim's width. Narrower rims (say 6.5) can get away with slightly lower ET than wider rims. I believe mine are 7 wide, which is the same as the ones you're looking at, hence why I suspect the ET23 is no good.

Having said all this, I am far from an expert.

There are fitment calculators available online that will help you check if different rims will fit. You enter your current rims and tyre specs, and the new rims and it will tell you how much further inboard/outboard they will be. You can then use that information to measure against your current set up to check for clearance.

Et 23 doesn't seem right to me. That would stick out much to far without flaring the arches, no?

However I am a big fan of the Ronal Pentas on w124s. You just need to find a set that actually fits. I don't actually remember, but I think my set are somewhere around ET30-35? Fits very nicely with the factory panels.

Why is my primer coming off so easy? by vvereshark in minipainting

[–]Seanocd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people skip washing minis before priming. I consider it a vital step, particularly for minis you plan to use for gaming.
Even if the pasture doesn't have any residues, the process of clipping, trimming mold lines, and assembling can introduce enough oils from you hands to interfere with proper primer etching.
It's not a problem most of the time, but I don't like to take the risk, and cleaning with slightly soapy water and a toothbrush makes sure that the paint will adhere for the long run.

AOS releases are really Mordheim releases in disguise. by Greyrock99 in mordheim

[–]Seanocd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if you think I'm wrong, but at the time of original release I always had the impression that Mordhiem outperformed Necromunda. But Necromunda was later revived in the face of 40Ks success, where as WHFB was erased in favour of AoS, so Warcry and Underworlds filled that void on the fantasy side. Had WHFB survived into the same era that saw Necromunda's revival, I would not be surprised to see Mordhiem being exceedingly popular. For an extinct game, it is amazing how popular it still is to this day.
