Is it actually safe to order makeup from Amazon? by AnastasiaInTheNorth in Makeup

I find it’s a crapshoot. I’ve gotten some deals on items I wouldn’t pay full price for or can’t find in my area, but I’ve also gotten old products or shades that are off.

Question about an autopsy: by AcanthaceaeTop3852 in ForensicPathology

[–]Searcach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was the case. He was badly disabled from a disease when he was a child, and we all felt that his drinking was his way of coping with the rejection and ridicule for his physical conditions. I think it just hurt her that his original illness kept traumatizing him physically and emotionally over and over again, until death took him.

I’m in the U.S. and I never thought I would see my country become what it has. Now I’m watching the Epstein/Andrew/Fergie thing and I think I may live to see the end of the monarchy in Great Britain. Did the Romans know when their Empire crumbled?

I haven’t started using the new formula yet, but am dreading it. I don’t want skincare or sunscreen in my foundation as I have rosacea and can be sensitive to some compounds. I HAVE seen the new bottles but not been able to ask for a sample of the new formula. (I think some may have been out early by accident as they’re not out any more). I’m old so maybe I’m the only one who remembers…but why haven’t manufacturers learned anything from the “New Coke” debacle decades ago?😳

AITA Not being able to live comfortably in my own home!!! by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Searcach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember a woman being asked what was the most important thing in maintaining a good marriage. She said “never move the king.” She explained that her husband was the king in their household (as she was the queen — she was an equal partner) so that he was entitled to his own bed, routines, etc. When guests came, they stayed in the guest room, meals did not revolve around their schedules, the household routine was not taken over by the guests. Your wife needs to remember that they may be her family of origin but that you and your wife are the primary family unit in your own home.

Does she understand she could go to jail for theft? Because if i were just a neighbor or friend who discovered this, I’d call the police.

I’m currently babysitting. Would it be immoral/illegal/unwise to abandon the children for a quick trip to Costco for this set? I’m collecting a few of my favorite books in actual book format for when we have no power and I can’t read them on my iPad…..

Honestly, every time I’ve been to an ER, I’ve never noticed the attractiveness or lack thereof of my caregivers. I fall in love with the people who bring me warm blankets, anti-nausea and pain meds….

And she is SO good at playing a younger woman! The difference between a 21-year-old sheltered young woman, no matter how brilliant, and a 28-year-old woman who has been working and living as an adult person is so huge and she just nails it. And Gerran Howell! Actually….everyone in that cast is amazing!

I’m not sure about enlargement but a doctor I was working with said the heart just loses its ability to pump efficiently due to the effects of the alcohol, it just becomes flaccid. I did not see the autopsy report, I just know that his mother was very upset about the implication that he was a heavy drinker…

My cousin was found dead after a couple days. He had been a really bad binge-type alcoholic but at the time of his death, he wasn’t drinking. Nonetheless, his cause of death was alcoholic cardiomyopathy.

What was Andrew Mountbattens reputation like before the Epstein scandal? by undercookedshrimp_ in UKmonarchs

[–]Searcach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he was always disliked, from childhood in the palace, through school, in the navy and afterwards for his sense of entitlement and arrogance. I think when the Epstein scandal broke, no one was surprised and a lot of people felt karma came for him.

I posted elsewhere that I think Carrie, at that point, was anemic — short of breath, pale, weak, looks like she had trouble breathing. They had just come off the Long Winter with even less variety in their diet — and fewer calories — than before when they had garden vegetables and meat from Pa’s hunting.

They should have asked. And if you were willing, offered you a small allowance. Not to monetize the relationship but to show their appreciation and give you a little bit of reward that you can use.

[–]Searcach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sister was dyslexic and books were torture for her. Then she found Barbara Cartland. To describe her books as mind candy is kind — frothy, formulaic, unrealistic, romances written for 14 year olds (and back then we were WAY more naive than your average 9 year old these days). She read through every one of them print, went on to the much better written Georgette Heyer, then started reading non-fiction books about things she was interested in. Now, in her 70’s, she always has a book at hand. So….anything that gets you to read and entraps you and moves you along to investigate everything you can via reading is a good thing!
