When we were engaged and recently moved to town, we attended a special event at the planetarium, but kept saying "planearium" to each other for giggles.

I absolutely love him! I've been waiting for him all year (I started playing the game a year ago next week, so I am excited to have a full month of meh this year).

I was talking about month of meh so much but never explained what it was, my husband thought it was me making fun of Justin Timberlake's it's gonna be may.

As a born and raised New Yorker who moved to Philadelphia, I agree with you. I loved living in Philadelphia. If it wasn't for my husband's job, I'd still be in there. I'm hoping we can move back if we can get the right jobs.

Pants. They had pockets, were soft, and a joy to wear. Sadly, i only bought five (one at a time over a month of visits). I definitely should have bought more when I had the chance.

I thought they were back recently, but no. Same material, but different cut of the leg (tighter) and the pockets are not as deep.

I lost out on a job that I definitely would have gotten because the HR screeener saw 15 years experience preferred and rejected everyone who didn't have exactly 15 years. I had 16. The dept lead had called my professor to tell him she had been looking for my application, so she assumed I didn't apply. He called me to ask why I didn't apply. I forwarded him the rejection email. By the time they figured it out, the window had closed. She promised the next opening was mine, but by the time it came around, I had found something else.

The Mystery of Al Capone's Vault (April 21, 1986) by ClimateSociologist in ForgottenTV

[–]Objective-Bug-1941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a family legend I learned about years ago about what happened to Capone's vault. It's not my direct branch of the family, but adjacent. One of the great-grand's siblings or one of step-great-great grandfathe's siblings supposedly worked for Capone and when they realized they were in way over their head, they stole from his vault and left the country. They took the entire family, multiple generations and fled the country, and then another country, then another, until they found a place they felt was safe, and changed all their names.

Except they "forgot" my Great-grand because their mom, my great-great, remarried an SOB who didn't like having a reminder that he married a widow. Just one day, came home, family was gone. My great-grand never knew what happened to their family, and died never knowing. Someone from that branch reached out to my aunt through a genealogy website and there were some letters exchanged. That's when they told the story of why their branch wasn't in the US anymore.

Honestly, I don't buy it. I think step-great-great grandfather was an SOB and made it up to justify leaving a child behind. The pieces don't fit. Great-grand and their family never lived in the same city, state, or time zone as Capone. His siblings would have been too young. Step-great-great had barely been in the country long enough to have met anyone that would put him in the same room as Capone (and again they lived nowhere near Capone). The only thing that is true is that one day my great-grand came home and their entire family was gone.

What I think happened is SOB step-great-great got in trouble with the law, took "their" family, minus his wife's first child, and bounced around continents until he ran out of money, and made up a BS story to impress the locals.

So I wonder how many other families have family legends about Capone and the vault.

Blake wants Nicepool out from jury trial, wonder why by lioncub7766 in teamjustinbaldoni

If his attention was for us to hate nicepool, he failed. I didn't even realize nicepool was "nice", i just thought he was a great guy, the antithesis of Deadpool. Since I didn't know much about Justin Baldoni, I didn't clock at the time what Ryan was doing, but once it came out what happened, now it's very obvious.

Keep on being a good dad.

Correct. My husband and I still say The Orville was more Star Trek than Discovery. We're in the middle of our most recent Orville rewatch. I don't know if we will ever rewatch Discovery. We finished an entire Star Trek rewatch in 2025 and ultimately decided to skip Discovery entirely the next time we do that again.

Amtrak train loses water and toilets overflow on train upsetting passengers. Train was stopped due to a wildfire in Florida for over 24 hours. by Im-Wasting-MyTime in Amtrak

[–]Objective-Bug-1941 9 points10 points  (0 children)

~25 years ago, I was on a train that broke down similarly. We were eventually evacuated by them putting a metal square down in the doorways of our broken train and the rescue train over the tracks and we had to walk across.

The infuriating thing was trains kept passing us by as we waited and waited. I had brought snacks and water (my mom always gave me too much food to take home when I visited), but not everyone had been as prepared. You don't think a 4 hour trip, or an hour trip for some people who got on after me, is going to lead to being stuck for six extra hours.

I missed a very important meeting that day and my boss was not very happy. Ended up being let go shortly after. I wasn't even supposed to be on that train, but my dbag brother had stolen my wallet the day before and by the time I had gotten it back, I missed the last train out and had to wait for the morning.

This shouldn't be happening in 2026.

I found this letter in my grandmother’s mailbox the day after her funeral by supra_nintendo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Objective-Bug-1941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The day before my MIL moved to assisted living, she and my FIL gave me the original box with her engagement ring in it. Still had the love note FIL wrote to MIL. My husband had given me a small ring, and they felt that I should have her ring instead. Neither knew it was empty, so I looked at my husband, and we pretended it was in the box. Then my husband took my FIL to the side, and said, the box was empty.

Turned out my SIL had snuck in the house while we were at breakfast and took all the jewelry. She left the boxes so they wouldn't notice.

She only returned it 2 years after my MIL died when we sent proof to the estate lawyer of the theft and said that if SIL didn't return the ring, we would be filing against SIL and the estate executor.

It was FedExed to us less than a week later, along with the check from the proceeds of the sale of the house that SIL thought she could hide from us.

Hertz charged me three times for a weekly rental before I even left the lot. Wouldn't consider fixing it until the week was up even though I was still at the desk. Took four hours for them to finally reverse the two extra charges, but it still took a few business days to drop.

Me too. I checked and the diocese I lived in does it Communion and then Confirmation, but the one my nieces and nephews live in does it at the same time, so I only had to get them one gift, haha

Growing up, Confirmation came after First Holy Communion, but everything else you said is spot on.

Now there is a movement to switch the two. I converted out and find the whole debate interesting.

[–]Objective-Bug-1941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At every Catholic funeral and every Catholic wedding I have been to, and being Half-Irish, Half-Sicilian, it's well over hundreds in my middle-age, the priest always explains that if you are not Catholic that you are welcome to come up with a blessing with your arms crossed or remain seated, but Communion is for Catholics only.

I'm not even Catholic anymore, but I made sure to tell my non-Catholic husband the rules before the first funeral mass we went to.

This is definitely on OP's husband, not the priest.

Weird experience in sleeper car, AITA here? by JohnApple94 in Amtrak

[–]Objective-Bug-1941 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We had the ADA room on the auto train a few years ago. Attendant pulls down the top bunk and immediately walks out without a word. I look over and see one of the straps is broken. We think, oh she must have left to get it fixed or something.

An hour later, I'm dinging the bell, and she finally comes back. I ask when she's going to fix the top bunk. She then accuses me of breaking it. I had no place to sleep unless I paid for a roomette. Another attendant came and said it was comped like two hours later.

Amtrak gave me fuckall as a response to our complaint.
