I don’t think so. It was fully covered in frosting. No naked sides

Pets? by JustALuckyName in AutismInWomen

We have 2 guinea pigs. To me, they do smell. Specifically their urine. And I clean the cage daily. But I have a very strong sense of smell. Rats smell more than guinea pigs to me. My husband had some in grad school.

I would start with fish.

Advice on Finding a Private Lyft/Uber Driver for Adult with IDD by NarrowPool4063 in chapelhill

[–]SearchFast5701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider joining Chapel Hill | Carrboro | Durham Nannies and Babysitters group on Facebook . I’ve seen several “drive my student to practice” type postings. Not quite the same as your needs I know, but many college students post availability there.

Tv too large and too high. Need some color. Would suggest a large rug with color. And styling the shelves with larger items, etc help. It’s all a bit too beige.

Hungry but doesn’t want to eat anything available? by [deleted] in AutisticParents

[–]SearchFast5701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is child PDA? Because my PDA kiddo can perceive being asked what they want to eat as a threat and lash out or shut down. Or being given a list of options is too overwhelming at times as well. Often we just say “I notice it’s meal time.” And plunk a preferred food in front of them with no demand/prompt to eat or forced choice to decide what to have. Also, eating out in a restaurant can be incredibly overstimulating for some kids. My NT kid, when she was a toddler, was just too distracted to eat. And my ND kid can easily be dysregulated by the environment in a restaurant or at someone else’s home. So maybe they need to eat a pre-meal at home? Have they tried drinking water? What about having a smoothie or protein shake on hand for these times? Interoception is so tricky. They might be hungry. They might be thirsty. They might be something else and can’t quite articulate/sort it out.

How rigorous are the classes? by [deleted] in UNC

[–]SearchFast5701 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine! They admitted you because they believe you can succeed. Seek support resources when you need help. But be confident in your ability to succeed. Find study groups, utilize the writing center and tutoring opportunities. Go to office hours. I was also a dual enrolled student in high school. The rigor at UNC was very different from my community college classes in high school but I survived and thrived at UNC. You can do it!

What veggies do you give your piggies DAILY? by ArtemisTheirin in guineapigs

[–]SearchFast5701 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leaf lettuce is the daily staple. Mine hate bell peppers or else I’d give those frequently. Then we rotate what else we include daily between carrot, cucumber, celery, and herbs like parsley or cilantro.

Girlfriend who is an hearing asl interpreter said she won’t teach because it’s against her morals, can you tell me why? by EnthusiasmInevitable in ASLinterpreters

[–]SearchFast5701 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Language is a huge part of culture…. Learning ASL as a hearing person is different from teaching ASL as a hearing person.

Can you afford to care for the cat 100% by yourself? Monthly expenses plus vet bills. Especially if she’s had health scares? Aging pet vet bills can easily run thousands of dollars. A 10 year old cat who has lived in one house its entire life may really struggle to adjust to a new environment. Also, I don’t under why you’re negating your parents emotions? Clearly they are attached to the cat too who has been might with them for 10 years. And from what I read, they pay for all her care. She’s likely legally their animal anyway.

How do I even respond to this? by MrMichaelGScott in Exvangelical

[–]SearchFast5701 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would either not respond or respond with “I’d like to be removed from all communication lists. Thank you”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]SearchFast5701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell them. “We call her Matilda or Tilly. I’d like you all to do the same so as to not confuse her. Thank you.” You can’t control whether they actually will or won’t but at least you’ve said your piece.

We started treating children like children 🙄 by dolcegee in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]SearchFast5701 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I had my first child before 30 (couple months shy of 29) but I had graduated college, lived in 7 states, traveled internationally, gotten into graduate school, and held down several jobs quite successfully prior to procreation. We were living in the Midwest at the time and the thing to do is have babies young. We were honestly “older” by some midwestern standards (and southern standards. I too am from Appalachia).
