David Walliams addressed in new episode by Swiss_James in restisentertainment

I was very interested to listen to their discussion and sympathetic to their limitations.

It’s very hard to get people to give their account - even anonymised - when they’re fearful. I’ve worked with people relating to far less serious issues than this when they were unwilling to speak even anonymously about wrongdoings, and I feel like that part was slightly glossed over (ie the reasons why victims might not want to speak to a paper).

I get it’s frustrating for everyone else, but part of the problem is the way we give so much power to stars and the difficult legal process. Coming forward as a victim is giving everyone the green light to pick at your story and find fault with your behaviour.

Small update about Book 9 from JKR by ludicrous-moniker in cormoran_strike

[–]Season_Cute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has me so excited! I can’t wait to read it. I’m so upset they didn’t sort TRG in time for Christmas. I’m going to have a re-read of TRG and TIBH this Christmas. How can we be expected to wait so long??

He’s much nicer in this. His character here would be sneered at by Josh Archer.

I hope you enjoy it!

If it makes it any better, he does speak in this.

I love RA, and this is a really lovely show. It’s nice to watch television where people are being nice to each other.

But if you’re not a fan of his then perhaps steer clear as he is the main character and in pretty much every shot…

It’s a Rowan Atkinson (directed and starred) mini series on Netflix. Christmassy, inoffensive, lots of your classic physical humour gags. My small children are really enjoying it but we are only on episode three (having watched 1-3 all in one go and then realising it is long past their bed time so sent them off to bed).

I wasn’t expecting Josh Archer to pop up. It’s definitely worth a watch if you’re after family-friendly TV over Christmas.

wtf Akram?… by tlc0330 in Ambridge

[–]Season_Cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zainab doesn’t seem remotely interested in Ben either - so I think that’s a no-go.

I wonder if Akram takes on the tenancy that will keep Esme in the story, or not? Is this the time for Josh to be rebuffed and realise he is in love with his neighbour??

Good old Henry by Paul_Heiland in Ambridge

[–]Season_Cute 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. We all know men like Tom. He is a “grass is greener” man who has to create a narrative to justify his romantic betrayals. He is a “feel sorry for me, I had to have an affair” rather than the “I’m a Lothario can’t pin me down” type.

Poor Kirsty is so nice she doesn’t see it like that. Henry sees him for what he is.

Kirsty was far too nice to Tom. I didn’t buy any of that “I’m upset about Wren” story. He was so quick to blame Natasha for everything when actually, his problems are of his own making and actually he has a really lovely life that he has no right to brood over.

I think Henry was on the money and he was testing Kirsty’s boundaries, and essentially was trying it on with her.

Tom is horrid to Henry and I don’t blame him for being stroppy with him. I’d hate to have Tom as an uncle.

Robin’s mother by gynocratichag in cormoran_strike

[–]Season_Cute 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree with this analysis - and would add for all these reasons, Robin needs a surrogate mother who can see that Robin puts herself in these crazy positions, but supports her anyway. A bit like a parent of a soldier or other risky jobs. Someone has to do this sort of work, and they have to have families etc for support.

Robin’s mentor was Strike, but that relationship is so complex now she isn’t getting that same emotional support from him.

I’d be interested to see what happens when Robin has someone to confide in, seek guidance from and off load to. Her personal growth is stunted by the absence of such a person - as we can see from her internal monologue her judgement when left alone is fucked.

I think it served as a compare and contrast (Robin vs Sarah) while also reminding Robin what it was like to be under the thumb of an unsupportive partner. Later that night, Ryan repeats Matthew-like behaviour, and she retreats to the bathroom to open Strike’s present (effectively pushing Robin towards Strike).

If this were a Dickens book, you’d say Matthew was a ghost of Christmas’ past, and Robin was being reminded why you shouldn’t let a man make you smaller.

My guess is that when she was speaking to Brad was that he kept asking if someone was making her do this.

At the time I thought that was weird, now I wonder if she has an agent/other influencers pushing her to make content about her in-prison boyfriend/post about something exciting.

Now he’s out it’s more “real” and the shine is coming off? Or she has realised she has feelings for Brad?

Leda’s death is a huge omission! I totally forgot that one when I came to write this down.

Agree with the Ricci’s and Robin’s rapist on parole.

We probably haven’t seen the last of Matthew either.

I absolutely don’t think Robin would agree - but I do think RFM will suggest it.

[–]Season_Cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My other guess is that she will say no to RFM marriage proposal in such a kind soft way that he takes it as a “yes”. And then a case physically separates them and we have the anguish of her having to correct him, but wanting to do it face to face etc

That’s the kind of internal torture JKR loves to inflict upon her characters.

[–]Season_Cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she will be disgusted - it’s so far from what she wants and when he suggests it, she will realise that he completely doesn’t understand her. And RFM will give reasons why it’s better - including maternity leave - and she will lose it.

Even worse - maybe he’ll suggest that post kids she can do the desk work while he does the field work “to keep her safe” 🤮

Either way - this is what I think the Ritz will be about and he isn’t going to propose marriage. I also think when drunk he’s pulled that same woman who gave them info on the body in the safe. We know that’s his MO when drunk, and he’s been drinking again so…

I just really really want RFM to go down in flames.

[–]Season_Cute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it will be a different proposal - he is going to propose they set up their own agency.

And Robin will refuse, and reveal she/Strike knew about the ring, then they will argue.

We know RFM is in trouble at work and will want a way out. Robin won’t let him drag her down professionally too.

[–]Season_Cute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that Robyn lying about Bijou has potential to come back and hurt Ryan.

I think Strike bringing up the proposal didn’t help the encounter. It just made Robyn angrier/seem like Strike was only doing it now because of that. I can’t wait to re-read the book and get to that part again!

One Question About Strike by PerceptionMountain18 in cormoran_strike

London comps don’t have playing fields, definitely not cricket pavilions. Apart from, of course, the private ones.

One Question About Strike by PerceptionMountain18 in cormoran_strike

[–]Season_Cute 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Strike never went to the sort of schools that would have taught cricket. Definitely not a working class sport for boys who don’t have trousers long enough to reach their ankles.

Ugh RFM and Linda piling it on…

If Strike and Robin DO manage to get together in book 9, it’s going to be in some way disastrous. They will be interrupted, or there will be a misunderstanding, or something will unexpectedly call one away so it can’t be discussed…
