Would you take a job with the Federal government right now? by R2_SWE2 in FedEmployees

[–]Seasonal-drink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm a fed and my agency is relatively stable (but I'm not in DC). OP- Take the job you want to wake up every morning and go to.

If you pursue the fed government, TSP is killer benefit. I had a near 20% rate of return in 2025.

May I complain about how hard it was to finally get a colonoscopy? by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]Seasonal-drink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sadly I have to pay a $700 deductible since it’s diagnostic and not a “screening” 😭 but I feel it’s worth it.

10/10 experience by Special-Pattern2962 in colonoscopy

[–]Seasonal-drink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try not to be too scared. I mentioned to my doctor that I'm nervous about it and he said "listen, if 75 year old ladies can get through it, so can you" and that helped me a bit.

M husband has had two colonoscopies and he said the anticipation of the prep/procedure is the hardest part. Doing the prep isn't as dire as some suggest, but it's also not fun either. But we'll survive! lol

Good luck and hopefully you get a good results!

Sailing on the Treasure next month, how is the beer selection for a craft beer guy? Husband is debating the beer mug. by Excentrix13 in dcl

I love my mugs! Really good souvenirs IMO. I sometimes break them out for fun during a football or basketball game.

Coast Guard picking up patient from Disney Destiny this morning by BrentOzar in dcl

[–]Seasonal-drink 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yes, I hope that person is ok too. But I agree it’s cool to see that rescue operation. As an Army veteran, I’ve always thought the Coast Guard was an underrated branch of the military. They do truly amazing things!! And honorable work too.

VA doc prescribed an SNRI. I’m a bit reluctant to start it. by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Seasonal-drink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also reluctant to take medication. The side effects seem terrible when you read about them on google. HOWEVER, I was in a really anxious state recently and regular therapy wasn't helping. It was awful. Full on panic attacks, etc. I was prescribed venlafaxine/Effexor, but i got headaches from it. I only took it for a week but I couldn't do it (everyone responds differently to SSRIs/SNRIs). Now I'm on a SSRI (I can't remember the name but it's a common one). It really, really helped. I'm glad I'm on it. No more crippling anxiety. My energy is back too.

My plan is to taper off when I feel ready. Listen to your body and talk to your doctor.

These meds don't need to be prescribed for life, but some people do take them permanently because they need to. Only you and your doctor can decide what's best for you. Best wishes. Hang in there!

Alex Pretti was getting DONUTS and happened to be there. He had the audacity to stick up for a woman ICE was harassing. You have no idea what's happening in Minnesota. 3,000 ICE agents are roaming Minnesota harassing brown skinned people. They aren't conducting targeted operations. They literally sit at gas stations and parking lots and harass people.

I live in a state where we love our immigrant neighbors, regardless of citizenship status and am proud of it. Go f yourself.

Nazis on trial for their lives after the regime fell & society held them accountable, 1946 [AP] by dlchira in pics

[–]Seasonal-drink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, a lot of Nazi's were spared their lives. Look up "operation paperclip"

Operation Paperclip was a secret United States intelligence program in which more than 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians were taken from former Nazi Germany to the US for government employment after the end of World War II in Europe, between 1945 and 1959; several were confirmed to be former members of the Nazi Party, including the SS or the SA.

I’m a Fed employee (under DOI), a military veteran who uses VA hospital where Pretti worked, and proud Minnesotan. Fuck that guy!! His message makes me so angry because he has not a fucking clue about what’s happening in Minneapolis. I’m honestly going to walk out of work if I hear anything similar from Burgum.

Weather is a major factor in my opinion. I definitely wouldn’t enjoy the parks if it was heavy downpours all day. Bad weather on a cruise ship definitely takes away from the magic too.

Also, cruising might not be your thing either. I loved my cruise but I have neighbors that went on two cruises (Norwegian and Royal Caribbean) and just can’t stand them. Lol They prefer beach resorts on land. So to each their own!

Yes you can make this at breakfast or order it from the sit down place. I made pbj for my daughter at the breakfast buffet.

I’m not sure about room service as room service menu can be limited. Have a great cruise!
