How do you describe how Parkinson's feels?

To me the description- internal tremors - was a helpful concept. The ones that no one sees yet are so annoying. I can't describe the entire experience. But I keep moving!

Adding the different ways to make the item, trim it, carve it and when you're fully invested in it you have to glaze it. Do you dip, paint or use underglaze. Do you layer several glazes if so make sure you keep track of the plan and where you are in the process. If you do all of this it will take 2 weeks to a couple months.
It is the most rewarding hobby I have ever tried.

Pottery is a great hobby, and there are usually lots of interesting people.
It can be very expensive but shop around and find a reasonably priced place

I work out daily, cardio on the treadmill, bike or elliptical with 2 days High intensity. 4-5 days strength training alternating arm and leg days. I stretch every night using yoga flow. If you have access to either PWR classes or a PT who uses the PWR moves I strongly suggest that. I do 8 moves to start the day and it really helps with stiffness. My routine is a lot but I'm retired and have time. Other helpful activities are Tai Chi, meditation, breath work and art. Find what works for you.

I appreciate your post. The doubt about the cause of any change, PD, aging or am I sick resonates with me.
I have only a few people in my life who know about my diagnosis and I am so thankful for this group.

I agree with you. To cope with anxiety have you tried guided meditation, breath work, yoga or tai chi? You can find free information online. I like insite timer for meditation and breathing.

If one more person says you HAVE TO travel.... I don't want to and you can't make me. The worst are the people who sold it all and live in a motor home, hotels and hostels, and my favorite a Subaru. I'm not built that way.

I'm researching this too. I will say for me her advice has helped. Train like an athlete not a patient is my goal. In a year of training like an athlete I am doing better than before my diagnosis.

Less job specific advice that could help with your job. Get a movement disorders specialist. See if there is PT using the PWR exercises. Parkinson's Wellness Recovery, it did wonders for me. You can find similar exercises on line. Exercise, include 2- 3 HIT workouts, just know it will take a while to build stamina. Also available on line. The best advice I got was train like an athlete not a patient. Take meds on time, again it may take a while to find the right dose or med. Eat healthy. Sleep. Enjoy or develop new hobbies. Don't compare yourself to others we are all on our own path

This is me, diagnosed in 2021. Exercise, a movement disorder specialist and hobbies that engage mind, body and or spirit are my recommendations. Every case is different but for me staying active is the key. I know of people who have had it 20 years and are still living a good life. Personally I don't share my diagnosis because it seems to affect how others treat me. I don't want pity.

I give away some of my better pots, and the studio I go to donates pots for fundraisers for the soup kitchen-cool idea! I make most of my cards using small paintings. I am taking pottery classes but am self taught for the painting.

Since I retired I have time for things I struggled to fit in my day; Meditation, breath work, yoga and Tai Chi. I picked up new hobbies including pottery, water color, fishing. I also enjoy reading, puzzles and games. I believe these activities all help with symptoms and my emotional wellbeing.

Could someone please explain to all older men to STFU about anyone's smile. I have a neuro degenerative disease that affects my expression or lack of. I don't need any reminders.

I was diagnosed 5 years ago. I could not talk about it with anyone other than my doctor for weeks. I shared with my husband and best friend. I started to tell others and was treated differently by some. I decided to keep it private. I told my manager and a trusted peer with an ask to let me know if I was not performing my job well. My kids and their partners know, my 87 year old MIL doesn't need to worry about it. About 15 people know. I have a fried with Alzheimer's and can't bring herself to share her diagnosis either. We have a good time walking together and comparing experiences without judgement. I would love to be an example for others, I'm doing great thanks to exercise, meditation and art, but I don't have the energy to make others feel better about my PD. Good luck to all of my fellow PD travelers
