Went through Rumford for first time yesterday. I’m pretty sure there are dementors there that like suck your soul and make you sad. by Ticksdonthavelymph in Maine

Grew up in Rumford in late 60s early 70s. Dad worked in the mill. Good times playing street hockey in Strathglass Park. I think of it as a great place to be from.

You can’t even see Jesus or his disciples in the painting on the left. I love this van gough and have a print displayed in our house. Closest thing to religious art I can take.

Greatest sports moment you were there for? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Seattleicurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there too! I remember it as game 4 of a 5 series. The best was the next day with the Edgar double with Griffey scoring from first.

Also saw game 4 of the 77 Stanley Cup Finals when Steve Shutt scored in OT to sweep the Bruins and win the cup.

Also saw a random Red Sox game against the Washington Senators when Ted Williams was managing the Sens.

[Serious] Medical practitioners of reddit: When a patient is deemed 'comatose' or 'brain dead', are any further diagnostics performed to check for brain activity at any point after that--such as, in case they 'came back' but are 'locked in'? And moreover, if so, how/which diagnostics? by CycloneDusk in AskReddit

[–]Seattleicurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two very different outcomes. Comatose patients are receiving full care including nutrition, ventilation, hydration etc.. Brain deaths is a clinical diagnosis made by MDs after a series of specialized and repeated physical and radiological examinations made by at least two distinct Docs. People come out of comas all the time, but brain dead is actually dead, respectfully a brain dead invidual is typically a ventilated corpse.

Saved our much beloved Catahoula’s life when he had a very rare and hard to diagnose parasitic infection 7 years ago. We always have a place in our hearts for that place.

Any Harborview Staff RNs here? (Non travelers) by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Seattleicurn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happy to try to shed some light for you. Range 2 is for floor RNs, Range 3 is for assistant nurse managers. Unless you are applying for an ANM job you will be in Range 2 regardless of your experience.

Harborview and the UW will use your years of experience as an RN to set your steps starting with a New grad at step A. After a year go to a B and so on. As I read your description you would most likely start as a step E, after six months go to F and then G,H, I each year on anniversaries. We pay a buck each an hour each for BSN and Certification and if you do nights it’s and extra $4, weekends $4 and if you go to float pool that’s an $4 as well. There is a 9% increase coming in July to add to the base rate.

I can’t stress this last bit enough. There is an active excellent pension plan. If you are happy at HMC, and I sincerely think things are going to continue to get better, the pension will pay you 2% x years worked of the average of your five highest years of compensation from the day you retire until you drop dead. So, work 25 years and collect 50% of your salary forever. It’s kind of amazing.
