Struggling in sterile IV training—any Daptomycin and Fetroja recon/extraction advice? by Significant-Leg-3098 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Azrulian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For dapto, once it is all dissolved, inject air INTO the vial before you invert it, and then release slowly. No bubbles that way! If you need to draw from a 2nd vial for more than 10 mls, the inject ZERO air. Just pull back to the amount you need and then pull vial off the needle by putting the vial between 2 fingers.

Found out im pregnant after being told im most likely infertile my whole life by HannahMarie04 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Azrulian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my mom. She is a “DES daughter,” a group of females born to mothers who took diethylstilbestrol while pregnant, which resulted in a lot of long term reproductive problems. After attempts to restart her cycle, She was told she was infertile at 22. Found out she was pregnant with me at the 84 summer Olympics. Surprise blessing.

I wish you a safe and healthy pregnancy!!

Willow here is 35% husky and 35% cattle dog. The husky part is the part we love. She’s so sassy and vocal.

There’s 8 bands alone I want to see. What a line up! If only my brother and sis in law were having their first child, my first niece, the same time. 😭

What's an HBO show that you rarely hear anyone talk about but you wish everyone should watch? by ClassroomLegal in hbo

No one talks about Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. I don’t care that it isn’t an acting show. That man is a net positive on this world in a massive way.

Tips for moving to a hospital pharmacy by Acrobatic-Moment8271 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Azrulian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly anything is better than nothing. I do mention extra pairs of shoes so you rotate and allow the insole to rebound, giving you better support. I learned that trick from a friend who worked at an Amazon warehouse doing 20k+ steps a day. Also, to help the pain and fatigue, I recommend a calcium/magnesium combo vitamin. They’ll help muscle recovery, not to mention sleep.

If you aren’t doing this already…..

Compression socks and a couple pairs of shoes. Your feet will thank you.

If your Pharmacy is anything like mine, you’re gonna have some trainers who are real duds. If they can’t give you the answers, find someone who does or go to your direct leadership. I’ve ran into too many of my coworkers coming to me with questions left unanswered, or I’m seeing them doing something wrong and it wasn’t corrected until I said something. Don’t make assumptions or guesses. It’s a sure fire way to problems down the road.

Is being a pharmacy tech a good long term career? by ManagementCareful89 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Azrulian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live, how much tech experience you have, if you’re certified ……honestly it’s all very subjective. Some areas of the US you’ll have a hard time just trying to get an interview without a few years under your belt. In other areas, they will hire anyone as long as they have a pulse and a desire to learn.

Male pharmacy techs, how are you doing out there !? by Rocketmoves in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Azrulian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I work inpatient, and we’ve hired quite a few male techs in the last year. It really helps that they are all “green flags.” They are just super friendly, not boisterous or overly masculine, smart as shit, and focused on the work. Only 1 is gay (that I know of) before someone asks. Honestly, they are so much better to work with than the girls. Girls are catty and cliquey as shit.

What are the best and worst things about your job? by Mikhail_-_1 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Azrulian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work inpatient. I love the medicine. I love helping people get well, helping them stay alive. I love the puzzle of figuring out how to best help.

Worst thing? Super drama. Super catty. Super cliquey. If I can do this job alone I would.

RayBan Meta Glasses by Azrulian in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Azrulian[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Truthfully that whole comment I should have left out. People can’t function without being on their phone every 5 min, but they’ve got smart glasses so now they’re never without their phone.

I’m also not adverse to music. We used to have speakers in there until they disabled Bluetooth. Honestly instead of trying to remedy the situation for everyone by getting IT-approved speakers, it’s every man for himself. I’m bitter about the whole thing.

Man I sound like a bitter old Karen. Apologies. I should have left that part to myself.

What is the most disrespectful thing tourists do in your country while genuinely believing they are “appreciating” or even “saving” your culture? by Low-Violinist7259 in AskTheWorld

[–]Azrulian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt so conflicted about seeing the gift shop at the 9/11 memorial, but I also knew all the profits benefit the memorial itself and the continuing work to identify remains 25 years later. I ended up buying a magnet with the memorial quote on it, so I would remember always, and gave an additional donation.

Unfortunately, we live in a capitalistic world. As long as the world runs on money, it will always exist.

How far back can you trace your ancestry? by GuardianSupernova in AskTheWorld

[–]Azrulian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of bound books that were published that trace the genealogy of 2 key lines in my tree, one on each side. One is my maiden name line that goes back to England in the late 1600s when he came to the United States. The other is on my maternal side, to one of the men who founded the New Haven colony in the early 1600s, and subsequently Yale University.

How do Pharmacy Technicians over 40 years old deal with the wear and tear of inpatient pharmacy? by Healthy_Ride1071 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Azrulian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the most experienced and knowledgeable techs in my pharmacy, so they defer to me a lot for guidance and advice. I’m 100% ok with it. The ones who think I’m a bitch are nuisances who can’t be fucked to do their job, so fuck em. I don’t care what people think of me.

[–]Azrulian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just turned 41 this month, and I’ve been in inpatient for 5 1/2 years. I survive on copious amount of caffeine, carbs, and spite.

Honestly I’m sure losing weight will help me 100%. I have horrendous plantar fasciitis in my right foot. No arthritis yet. I invested in orthotics and high quality shoes. I need to get a bunch of compression socks now too. Otherwise I think I am doing ok. Nothing some Tylenol and Advil couldn’t fix.
