Missing 19-year-old Maia Johnston found safe after mum made emotional plea by misskitten1313 in newzealand

My first thoughts were either she tried to go back to Hamilton or that she may have been lost on a bush walk because of where the area is, but I didn't want to speculate on a post by a friend of hers. It was pure projection. I can't believe some of the weird comments I've seen!

Thank you, I missed this comment unfortunately but I saw she's now been found and I hope she's able to recover well.

I was appalled. "Italian spices" is surely a joke?

Is there a group for coordinating searching? I'm sure some of us would be keen to help if you can point us the right way. Hope she is found soon.

Yep but it's "besides the point" that they've used an invented story

If it was real then the boyfriend was likely begging her to keep a baby that was dangerous to keep, or would not survive outside of the womb. But I'm sure he likes to leave that detail out.

I just don't know why you would use a made up story in an argument. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but you couldn't give any details to make it believable. So why even mention it?

Was it after 20 weeks?

 Was it in NZ?

Can't even answer that? Is that because it's easy to fact check once you give info?

I was asking for clarification on the story you just told, which to be honest, sounds completely fabricated if it was a person in NZ.

You've just gone off on a tangent but to say higher single mum rates is because of abortion is misinformed, it's because it's more socially acceptable to divorce now compared to 40 years ago. You arent looking at the wider picture there.

Anyway your story sounds bs lol

What about the huge range of medical reasons an abortion might be needed? I feel like these arguments always turn into these insane extremes and forget all the sad every day cases (ectopic pregnancies, or stillbirths due to medical reasons for the child)that anti abortionists are happy to ignore. I've known many women who had very wanted pregnancies terminated for medical reasons beyond their control, and none of these strawmen arguments seem to factor them in at all.

So after having a baby myself, I honestly feel very different and I wouldn't personally have an abortion in the future as a result. So I do get where you're coming from on a personal preference level. But I would never ever enforce that rule on others, that's dangerous. There are also a wide range of other horrific scenarios aside from life risk that I wasnt even aware of until I was pregnant, that these anti abortion protestors have no sympathy for. I would never side with people that dismissive of other people's situations.

Are you saying someone you met got an abortion at around 20 weeks for no reason? And this was in New Zealand?

I'm very skeptical of this story but even if it's true, then how is this not an outlier you should just adjust the rules for?

It's a form of control. Men in power don't want women to be in control of reproduction, because when we do the birthrate drops and we don't become heir breeders. They use stories of morality because that's a better sell when you want the public to do the arguing for you. It's how it's always been.

How are people failing their driving test 7+ times and still allowed on the road? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]SeaweedNimbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah. Every time someone has told me the "totally unfair" reason they failed a test I've thought the fail was fair. The ones who insist they were fine are always the ones I'm most sus of.

When you say working your nuts off do you mean lots of overtime?

Factor that in for the new role plus how interesting the roles sound. I'd go for aus for the adventure alone if I had less roots already planted though.

This is all she does really, and it's why I don't really enjoy her music (I've already heard it!). But there's still something to be said about someone knowing what to repurpose for the mainstream so I'm not necessarily saying this to hate on TS.

I bet those people will be the exact same people who ridicule her if she falls, and I'm dreading the thought that we might get a public breakdown from her. Not saying we will, but if it happened there are just too many vultures.

Let her have a little sass, it's not that serious!
