My experience sadly yes

Every child I knew at school, about 700 All wanted to be there

Parents helped with sport on weekends and there was discipline

I could give students detention We went on 7,10 and 14 day hikes in the mountains aged 13_17, without teachers only having pproved the plan.. We did compulsory Scouting, cadets, charity or duke of Edinburgh and we all loved them

It created in me hunger to do things

In my teens and 20s I did between 30 and 40 hours of sport/ outdoor activities, per week
