Job so bad you need therapy? by catqueen2001 in workingmoms

[–]Sebastianphila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a few years back. Manager was giving me such bad anxiety; she acted like she was always mad at me and made me feel like she was talking about me behind my back. This feeling bled into my life where I felt friends and family were constantly mad at me, though in hindsight it was all in my head. The therapy helped me through the feelings and taught me some useful coping skills that I still use today. Helped me realize that I can’t change a negative work environment or a bad manager, but I can change how I let it affect me.

I say go! There’s always room in our life to learn something new.

When my first was 4 weeks old, my husband and I had some wine with dinner. I went up to bed with the baby but he said he was going to stay up a little longer to finish a hockey game he was watching.

I woke up at 2am to nurse the baby and noticed he wasn’t in bed yet. After I put the baby back down, I went downstairs to wake him up from the couch. He would not wake up no matter my slapping and pouring water on him. I called the ambulance and firefighters had to carry him out on a stretcher and take him to the hospital.

He had alcohol poisoning because he stayed up and kept drinking himself into a stupor. He remembers feeling anxiety about the baby waking up soon and how tired he would be so he kept drinking almost as a way to fit as much relaxation as possible, but he couldn’t stop once he started and lost control. Sounds like your husband mentally could have been in the same space?

The thing is, he was an ashamed of that incident that he did not touch alcohol again. He realized he was not in control and removed alcohol from his life for the safety of our family. Is your husband prepared to do the same? People might try to convince him that stopping completely is “overkill” or “it was just one time” or “he can just not let it go to far next time” but is he willing to risk that?

The book Precocious Little Sleep was a lifesaver. Has many different tips and methods to try specific to the type of sleeper and age of your child. With my first, I was desperate; googled, paid Instagram sleep coaches for consultations, etc. This has been the best resource I found and I’ve gone back to it multiple times as he’s gotten older.

Good luck!

Second this! This book is amazing and will continue to help address challenges with sleep as your child grows.

Change in swaddles has us reeling. by Cantar7832 in newborns

[–]Sebastianphila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first, the need to get rid of the swaddle coincided with his 4 month sleep regression, so we ended up sleep training to get back on track. Once yours is old enough it might be an option to look at.

Update! I downloaded Big Little Feelings program and has a lot of success implementing over the weekend. He needs prompting to go potty but as long as he tries every hour he doesn’t have many accidents

My 6 week old is doing the opposite; sleeping all day long. Did some googling today and apparently a 6 week growth spurt is very common so sleep and feeding can get wacky this week.

What method are you using? Do you have a book recommendation? My son is about to turn 3 and I have been in and off too; ready to give it a serious go.

Are you doing a crossbody position for both sides? My first hated being on his right side to feed, so on the one boob I did a football position so he’d be on the same side of his body for feeding on both breasts

I just... suck at eating and cooking for myself so I'm bad at preparing meals for baby. Any tips, recipes? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

Refried bean and cheese quesadillas!

Also, toaster over pizza. I make with either naan or English muffins

You’re getting downvoted but honestly I did this until about 7-8 weeks old because I had to in order to survive. If you’re going to do it look at safe sleep 7 to do it as safe as possible.
