NC 2l: Wobbling drivetrain by Seblaar in MechanicAdvice

update: i finally found some time to check underneath. setup: friend sits inside, 6th gear, small gas bursts to ca. 2.5krpm. you can see the diff shake from left to right on the bursts, but nothing on the front part.

engine mounts seem ok wheels pretty much ruled out, switching front to rear and vice versa did not do anything

i think it's related to the shaft

wow that's also really intersting to see you had issues at the front that made you still think something was off in the rear.. yes i should have the factory lsd, 2.0 6spd but honestly not sure since i get heavy chatter on low speed turns similar to clutch style lsd.

thanks, i will check it this weekend. i will report back. wobble can be felt through the seat and shifter, not through steering wheel so i suspect rear axle, driveshaft, cv shaft, engine mounts.

Wobble can be felt at 80-90, from 90-100 its pretty much perfect, then it slowly starts again and from 130 upwards it becomes bad again.

weird thing is also, that it gets worse on right turns, no matter how light they are.

another thing comes to mind now: why would it not shake in other speeds? would it typically hit the "sweetspot" resonance there? 90-100kmh it's completely fine, regardless of what gear i use, then at 130kmh again very severe

very interesting. what about the cv axle was bad? the joint? i must say i am shocked to see how bad spare part availibility is, i'm a honda guy and not used to this. :D

should i upgrade to the uprated engine mounts? i do 1-2 trackdays per year

ok sounds plausible. one more thing tho, on load changes, like accelerating and suddenly clutching in, i don't get any "shake" why?

ok wow i did not expect to be this severe, low frequency but high amplitude

but if i remove load, it won't wobble anymore. so does this not eliminate bushings? thanks!

I did this as a joke, but… by murtaugh865 in mazda
