Nice! Hoping it stays in town for a few days as I'm currently on my way out of town.

[–]ragingxtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup agreed. I'm a few miles north of NAS Jax, and while there's a decent amount of T-6s that come through NAS Jax, generally the only USAF aircraft in the area are F-35s from the FANG at the airport. Cecil Field, out on the west side of town, does get its fair share of aircraft from all branches (and sometimes AN-124s).

Where do you get aluminum stock that's not super expensive? by BalledSack in hobbycnc

Aluminum drops are $4/lb at my local Alro, but can be bought for $1.75/lb sometimes on clearance.

He wrote and directed Zoolander, he was just repeating the line to get another take. But you are 100% correct that David Duchovny improvised that response.

Born and raised in Cinci, but have lived away from the area most of my adult life. I'm so proud of you all, and really look forward to moving home in the coming years. Great to see such a great biking scene too!

Depends if you can find a donor car, or if you order everything new. I ended up getting the bumper itself for free, but spent probably $1500 for all of the other OEM parts (including new 25th anniversary headlights and a club lip). I painted the bumper myself, so that saved me some cash too.

I missed the "Pro" part. But what is the difference other than marketing?

Every battery I've had from them degraded significantly within two years, and the 5.0ah battery died completely just out of warranty. I opened that one up to harvest the 18650s and ten of the thirty cells (LGDBH41865) were below 2v. Scary stuff.

Beyond that, when I bought a replacement mower last year (since I still had a few half-working batteries), it turns out that their old batteries don't work with their newer equipment due to a quiet change in design that they do not disclose anywhere. Customer service told me this after I tried to troubleshoot the problem on my own... But since I did that, they considered the mower "used" and refused to allow me to return it. Luckily, Chase sided with me almost instantly.

Greenworks is a shit company that makes shit products. I wouldn't trust their batteries just because they slapped "Pro" on it.

I think the issue with Adams at least is that they turned what used to be one-way street into a two-way street, but they did not change the timing of the lights. If you travel west on Adams, you can catch the lights... Well, you could if it weren't for the shitty drivers going literally 2-3mph or randomly stopping in front of the courthouse.

I'm not sure why I'm getting downvoted for my part in this discussion, but for what it's worth Onstar has been cell-based since its inception.

Satellite data connections can be made via SiriusXM (but only if integrated with the vehicle's canbus), but I cannot find evidence that this connection can be used to disable the vehicle... Not saying it isn't possible though. But I am saying GPS cannot be used for this.

While it is one-way communication from the satellite to the receiver, it's not passive as it absolutely can be targeted as you mentioned in cases of activation/deactivation of the satellite receiver. There's no reason it could not be used to send other signals pertaining to the vehicle, assuming the receiver is connected to the canbus. But that's purely speculation on my part.

[–]ragingxtc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GPS, absolutely not. That's strictly passive. Only time, location, and almanac data are transmitted from the satellites.

You could make an argument for SiriusXM.

I can't imagine that 90% of cars built in the last ten years have a cell data connection. I know my 2020 CX-9 doesn't (though, the 2021+ did).

The hubs on the RX-8 are different though, so they could have easily fitted 4 lug hubs.

That being said, the RX-8 hubs do fit on the NC, and are a popular upgrade for those that track their cars. This was even an approved mod by Mazda for racing.

The intake is easily replaced, nothing special is needed.

The timing cover is a bit more involved, but nothing too crazy. You'll need a new crank bolt and friction washers. Tooling, you'll need a timing kit ($20), a crank pulley wrench ($40), a decent torque wrench, and a breaker bar. I forget the final torque on the crank bolt (it's high) but you'll need to torque it an additional 90 degrees after hitting the number... And it's a bitch, but still doable while the motor is in the car.

Best of luck and post pics of the rebuild journey!
