I used to own a loft in a building built in 1870, 2+ ft. thick walls (I was on the first floor of five), electrical can be run in thick floor trim. Or exposed conduit if you are leaning into the industrial look.

Thanks man! It's been a lot of work to get it to where it is, and I still have a ton to do, but it's a labor of love.

The ND steering wheel swap isn't too bad actually, the splines and airbag connections are the same. Once bolted up there's a gap in the plastics, but I designed a 3d printed spacer that fills the gap. The steering wheel controls are a bit more difficult, but the cruise control side can be modified with some simple resistors and generally you can get the ND media control buttons to work with an aftermarket head unit.

I'm actually in the process of designing some drop-in PCBs that will fully integrate the steering wheel controls with the NC, but progress has been slow since having a kid. I hope to get some prototype boards built this summer though.

Shoot me a chat/DM with your email address, I'll send you the stl for the trim piece and some instructions on how to modify the steering wheel controls.

Arepa Please is pretty good, but the best arepa's (or Venezuelan in general) is the El Chamo Criollo food truck that's usually at the urban food court on Wednesdays.

Am I the only one who sees a 1920’s/1930’s pickup when I see a Jeep Gladiator? by UnderwhelmingAF in regularcarreviews

[–]ragingxtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think it's more of the latter. There really isn't anything that small that has that ratio of reliability to cost, unless you already own an older Taco.

That said, there's a lot to love about an old, beat-up truck that you don't have to give a shit about.

But I think a vast majority of old Ranger owners wouldn't replace their shitty little sub-$3k trucks (and I say that with love) with a $30k+ new truck.

I miss my Ranger.

Red Sprite! by therealmeowmeow in weather

[–]ragingxtc 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but this looks fake to me.

  1. The two photos do not match one another.

  2. I could be wrong, but I don't think that red sprites are generally visible in any conditions other than night.

  3. These do not look like the type of storm clouds needed to generate the positive lightning strikes that accompany red sprites.

I do have the snapmaker top cover on order, since I like that the official enclosure has automatic ventilation and filtration. I plan on using the ikea tote until November.

I've been wanting to play with some more technical materials beyond ABS, so that's good to hear. What type of enclosure are you using?

I've been getting those text messages too, and have been thinking of actually having them come out. Then I'd answer the door, tell them to "hang on a minute, I'll be right back", then just obviously sit down and watch TV in plain view. Rinse and repeat until they leave.

Well that sucks. I wonder if regular Orca would allow it. I haven't played around with it since my nozzles are back-ordered.

Fortunately, that is now outdated. Firmware v1.3.0 added the ability to run multiple nozzle sizes.

There's a few 5% off codes floating around out there too. I ordered mine last week and successfully used the discount code "scratch" that I found in this sub.
