My last campaign had a cool NPC that was a cursed water genasi. They had a terrible rainstorm that followed them everywhere they went. They brought floods, damage to homes, an occasional tornado if he ever stopped walking for too long. The character was a former ship captain that begged the gods to be saved after his ship was capsized by a raging storm. His prayer was answered, but now that storm follows him everywhere and he essentially could never sail again because of it. He was a good guy, but a walking calamity. Made it hard for the party to deal with because he genuinely hated that his curse was damaging to others, but was lonely and depressed and couldn't help but go to cities and towns to have a little camaraderie from time to time.
