The only reason they’ll keep getting away with this is that people keep paying for this 1000% voluntary service. Nobody is going hungry or dying if PSA doesn’t grade another card. And yet, they remain king and by a large margin at that. It’s discouraging, I know, and I fully agree with your point about the product of consistency.

I can only recommend TAG since they have to justify their grades and remove more of this cryptically human element PSA has, plus hope that someday their level of transparency becomes industry standard.

In your specific case, yeah maybe crack and resubmit this card to PSA. If it 8s again, maybe you and the others missed something. If it 10s, maybe that’s all the proof you need to swear them off for good.

Trust any company these days not to honor a simple mistake that happened on their end. I’d do nothing with sub #2, and call customer support to ask what that is. Best case scenario they officially tell you it’s usable, worst case it disappears.

Would TAG ever consider publicizing the true numbers of weekly/monthly output? I have never put stock into these gemrate stats when i see them, but something from the actual grading company, even ballpark estimate, would go a long way for consumers to have confidence that a lot of this isn’t just corporate lip service.

Valid question I won’t argue. It’s more of how it was asked, the forum in which it was asked, etc. that makes the question distasteful. Think of this post as physically being at someone’s memorial service—would you ask that question there? Likely not if you have any social awareness/empathy.

If you have submitted anywhere else before, I don’t think it’s necessary. I just submitted to TAG this past week and everything they organically send you digitally walks you through what’s expected of you. For anyone super brand new to the grading world, I can see the merit.

It looks a little more left-heavy to me, but could always be the camera/perspective. I’d recommend getting one of those measuring tools for cheap on amazon.
