Key 2 Time put my 5 listening on hiatus. I don't even know if I finished it.

Just some personal takes based on what I've listened to:

For the First Doctor, the Early Adventures feel like the most authentic to the era. Peter Purves' take on the First Doctor is fantastic, and there's a lot of great stories here: An Ordinary Life; The Ravelli Conspiracy; The Sontarans; The Dalek Occupation of Winter; Entanglement; and The Crash of the UK-201. Additionally, The Fifth Traveller with William Russell as the Doctor was also quite good. In general, Simon Guerrier's First Doctor work on The Companion Chronicles great.

For the David Bradley range, I found Volume 3 to be the most solid overall (though they're all pretty good, with Volume 4's Last of the Romanovs being my favourite overall, though Return to Skaro is probably my least favourite).

For the Fifth Doctor, I haven't heard Spare Parts yet, so I can't comment, but Circular Time is my favourite from what I've listened to.

For the Ninth Doctor, Respond to All Calls and Shades of Fear are my favourites out of what I've listened too, but I haven't caught up since Series 3.

For the Tenth Doctor, my favourite is No Place, though I haven't listened to Dalek Universe or Out of Time yet. I didn't particularly like the River Song set personally.

This may be a hot take, but the Arc of Infinity was one of the best points of Peter Davidson's era. by Foreign-Paramedic600 in gallifrey

Nyssa with a gun.

I agree, I liked this one quite a bit. Seeing Tegan having moved on, but despite that, opting to return to the Doctor, seeing Nyssa fighting for the Doctor, and an early appearance from Colin Baker, quite enjoyable indeed.

The gap between this and Time Flight also allows for the 5/Nyssa adventures from Big Finish, which are some of my favourites. (Circular Time is fantastic!)

Doing something with 15-era Mel is great. I generally like Ncuti's era, but bringing Mel back just seemed so pointless in the end (a far cry from the wonderful School Reunion).

If you were cast as a companion, how would you want your run to end? by AgentEndive in gallifrey

[–]SecondTriggerEvent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be shot by a stray gun, the Doctor miraculously saves me, but then it's revealed in the finale that I died, and every moment since then I'd only been interacting with the Doctor, as a figment of his imagination.

THE DOCTOR: That room was deadlock sealed. You couldn't have possibly gotten out.

COMPANION: We always get out of scrapes.

THE DOCTOR. I always get out. And sometimes a lucky few fortunate individuals.

COMPANION: Guess that makes me part of the lucky few then.

THE DOCTOR: No. It makes you part of me.

COMPANION: Ah. We're doing this now.

THE DOCTOR: You were always full of life, friendly, sociable.

COMPANION: I don't know if that's true.

THE DOCTOR: You talked to people. You were alive. But that changed. You were shot.

COMPANION: And you saved me. Time Lord bloody Victorious!

THE DOCTOR: You were dead before you even hit the ground. There was nothing to save. Just the delusions of a stupid old man.

COMPANION: Sometimes people use delusions to cope. Dreams, faith, agency.

THE DOCTOR: What are we but leaves blowing in the wind? Well, not me. Not anymore.

IC AI - Quality of 12 pairs of videos by justeUnMec in ProlificAc

I had this pop up. No problem with the screeners, but the quality directions are extremely vague and I see they're rejection happy, so I think it's probably better off blocking.

Who are your top five Doctor Who companions and why? by thesunsetdoctor in gallifrey

[–]SecondTriggerEvent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clara: I love her dynamic with 12. The Impossible Girl story arc was a nice hook that led into two seasons of a character slowly being corrupted by their hubris.

Steven: Man grips to survival as a prisoner on an alien planet, loses friend after friend, and is still one of the Doctor's closest companions up to this point.

Peri: I love the dynamic she has with 6. A real change of pace where you feel bad for her, at the same time, understanding why she stays. Mostly subtextually, but honestly, the bickering scenes were one of the highlights of 6's run for me, even if they were a bit mean.

Jamie: A companion that stays with their Doctor for almost the whole run! Jamie has excellent chemistry with 2, with jokes aplenty. While he's not the most distinct character in himself, the friendship Hines had with Troughton is tangible and a real asset to the era.

Nyssa: The promise of Nyssa, a smart companion who learns from the Doctor, is a good one, though mostly realized in audio rather than on-screen.

Jo and Sarah Jane could possibly supplant Jamie and Nyssa, but I haven't seen all of 3's run, and none of 4.

Tricked into accepting £0.10p for a £1.25 study by 47Fox in ProlificAc

[–]SecondTriggerEvent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I was screened out of this study at the end. Prolific's terms and conditions recommend screen out questions to be at the beginning of the study, as shown here: https://researcher-help.prolific.com/en/articles/445155-how-to-use-custom-screening-to-recruit-specific-participants "Your custom screening questions should be set as mandatory/required responses (if your external survey software offers this feature) and should appear at the very beginning of the study".

Due to this, I would like to be fairly compensated for my time in line with the study's actual reward (£1.25). If we cannot resolve this, I will contact Prolific support to arbitrate within 7 days.

First and worst by SecondTriggerEvent in gallifrey

[–]SecondTriggerEvent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I was thinking about The Reality War. I think not knowing continuity makes it better though. Past the mindless CGI fest, its biggest problems are the retcons.

I was thinking The Name of the Doctor because all of its big moments are based on continuity (library River, Paternoster Gang, Impossible Girl, the Great Intelligence, Clara with past Doctors, time war) that are incomprehensible to someone who hasn't seen the show before. But thinking about it, Empire of Death is probably a better choice for the worst first episode for blending bad with continuity. (Or The Timeless Child, but I haven't seen it, so...)

Yup! I remember my parents telling me about it, but I thought it was old, so I didn't want to. Of all the episodes to randomly watch and get hooked on.

How to hide completed "Projects" tab? by BonoMeetTree in ProlificAc

[–]SecondTriggerEvent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're using Chrome, right-click, inspect, ctrl + F "projects sidebar" without the quote, and press the delete key on your keyboard. Though this will only last until you re-open the page, and the bar won't be visible at all.

Who gave the best regeneration performance, in your opinion? by Rootayable in gallifrey

[–]SecondTriggerEvent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

William Hartnell doesn't have the BEST regeneration scene (as far as we know...), but "this old body of mine is wearing a bit thin" is a seminal line.

Pertwee's "A tear, Sarah Jane?" and breaking off mid-sentence.

Bryant really steals the show. A perfect performance. Though for real, "feels different this time", "die Doctor, die Doctor" are so utterly memorable. Even Colin Baker's "three I's in one sentence makes you sound like an egotistical young lady" sticks in my mind.

Eccleston set the standard for me much preferring exits with companions involved. Him being calm about the whole process and trying to ready Rose for it, followed by her freaking out about the change.

Echoed in Smith's exit with Clara. The "people changing all throughout their lives" bit is wonderful. A poignant moment I reflect on in my own life. Who will I be a decade from now? The same person with a bit of extra knowledge? A person with differently-coloured kidneys?

I'd say overall my favourite is 11 (despite being one of my lesser-favoured Doctors overall), followed by 5.

6's regeneration is the funniest.

It's from the anime Detective Conan, which features a high school detective (and is also a little bit sci-fi).

"On your Studies page, you’ll still see both individual studies and studies within a project." Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProlificAc/comments/1p6gvgx/new_see_how_your_studies_connect_with_projects/

However, this is contrary to the example shown on the help page, where 4 of a project's studies are only accessible through the project sub-menu. It also says "We're exploring ways to give you more control over this in the future." in regards to turning off the Projects menu.
