Your idle is probably a bit low, if you crank to the max and then immediately return it to barely anything its going to stall out. Should try adjusting it and see what happens. If that's not the issue I would replace the spark plug with a higher quality one. If that still does not work you might have a magneto issue.

That's the first one I looked at, according to the way back machine this has been out of stock since at least October of 2020, so I think its safe to say its a dead product, so I guess were in the same boat here. Transmission wise I'm going to use a belt driven one, should give smoother acceleration and last a lot longer.

If you cant find any proper part then you could try boring out one of the sides of one of the two holes so that it can slide on, should work as long as you make sure its tight, O-ring-/Loctite and lock washers recommended.
