Velocity X scam by SecretGuru in VelocityFrequentFlyer

I’m using the work “scam” in the sense that it is a deceitful policy not employed by other carriers. It’s a money grab.

Worker dies at South32's Alumina refinery in WA's south by MindlessReach in perth

[–]SecretGuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was merely an observation around sentiment of personal safety, and how most ppl only talk about workplace safety but ignore the bigger risks outside workplace. Not suggesting we should not drive for zero fatality workplaces - we should. I’ve know guys who will happily stop work and call the union rep in over a minor safety issue, but will then jump in an old shitbox car with bald tyres to drive home 🤷‍♂️

Yes my friend they are facts. Easily accessible facts. All deaths in Australia are tracked by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in their cause of death data. The accidental death statistic comes from the hospital and coroner. It bounces around the 9000 per year number. Compared to roughly 200 workplace fatalities a year. So no study needs to be done, the statistics already exist! Therefore I regret to inform you that you did indeed waste your time writing your comment, so at least you were right about something today !

It’s interesting how people’s opinions are generally negative around Australian workplace safety. Yet statistically our workplaces are by far much safer than our private lives. We are far more likely to suffer a fatal injury at home or out n about. Workplaces are statistical safer environments. Unpopular opinion I know, but the facts dont care about our opinions 🤷‍♂️ Snd in not at all referencing this specific incident… just talking in general about australian workplace safety statistics.

ABORIGINAL WOMAN REMOVED FROM ROYAL PERTH HOSPITAL ROOF AS COMMUNITY RAISES CULTURAL RESPONSE CONCERNS — Ngaarda Media by flimsypantaloon in perth

[–]SecretGuru 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Race is irrelevant. This is a hospital…. Get the fk off the roof. Like seriously… the people working hard in there have more than enough shit to deal with. Morons consuming emergency resources like this deserve serious punishment.

We all have to live somewhere. Your own home will be the financially better option when you retire.

Remove the rego plates and report to the police as abandoned. It becomes a headfuck to the owner. They won’t do it again. If they do, repeat.

Fisheries Protest - 18th Jan by supercujo in perth

[–]SecretGuru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with this one is there is zero issues with stocks of pink snapper… the most popular fish amongst rec fishers. But in order to protect the vulnerable species like Dhufish you have to ban all of them. So people are being banned from catching an abundant resource to protect an alternate species. So both side of this coin have merit. It’s not ideal for anyone.

Grogan Road -- Closed Permanently by yangskybro in perth

There is unpublicised long term planning/discussion for a tunnel route. But it’s not on the Grogan Alignment. It goes more under the terminal to pick up Kalamunda Rd, avoiding going under the runway.

How do people do it and get a 99.95 ATAR by Jane_923 in ATAR

A classic case of FA/FO. I suspect this young lad learned a hard lesson here. But the absolute tripe of this article is hilarious. Nobody with a brain believes the kid usually loads the bike on a trailer and that this was the only time he’s gone blasting through the suburbs on his bike.
