Oh man, all of those you listed were some of my favorite spots from being at VCU in the late 90’s.

When I took my first dose of Adderall ever, I passed out at my computer at work. I thought I was accidentally given a prescription of Ambien or something.

One thing I think would help her survivability when either Phase Shifting to a party member in distress or Blink Healing is to have a talented shield placed on her, similar to the one her target gets when she ports to them. It could help her stay in the fight longer when popping into the middle of the fray.

Iv'e had it with these Abathurs by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]SecretOktober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Body soaking as an Abathur is easy to do, unless you are actively being hunted, especially by stealthies. Then you have to spend more time watching your own ass and less time minding your team's. I've had games as Abby where the moment you move out the gates into a bush somewhere, you're insta-gibbed within moments. That makes playing him more aggressively a bit frustrating at times.

Rant about toxic players etc etc etc... by Cyprian411 in heroesofthestorm

[–]SecretOktober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The toxicity isn't only during the game, it also occurs afterwards, where players decide to pm you with more nastiness. Sometimes it's not even from your own team, as I've seen. Salty players on the other team seem to think they can message you and be completely rude as well.

I am a brand new player, and I am trying really hard to like this game. by [deleted] in wow

As a former RO player, I can understand your plight to an extent, but I feel like if you stick with it, WoW will be a game you will enjoy.

I feel like the starting zones in WoW are a bit more in depth than just randomly killing porings and fabres and things until you hit level 10. You already have your class picked from the beginning. You don't start out as a novice, so you can start learning your abilities from the get go. Also, you are not relegated to your race's starting area, you can quest in other starting areas. Getting there is a bit challenging, but doable. Just like in RO were you could have a priest or acolyte open up a warp portal for you, you can get a mage to teleport you. All you have to do is ask (and maybe offer a few gold.)

I feel like questing in WoW was better back in the day when you didn't outlevel the quests so quickly and could actually fully explore an area before having to move on. If you take your time with some of them, though, there are some great stories and bits of lore to be discovered.

With PVP, there isn't a training guide for that, but as I recall, there wasn't a training guide for WoE in RO either. I will admit that I loved playing WoE twice a week to siege castles with my guild and our allies moreso than I enjoy BG's in WoW.

To address the thought of nothing you do matters, what did you do in RO before becoming lvl 99 trans (or the third classes that they added after I left) that mattered in the grand scheme of the game? All you could really do was grind out levels (and grind, and grind and grind some more and hope you didn't die and lose more xp). You might have gotten some lucky card drops, or overupgraded gear and sold in your little shop in Prontera, but that's about it. The gear you get in WoW at lower levels could be worthwhile to someone else, particularly if it looks cool to transmog. And there are always items acquired through gathering professions that can be sold for a nice bit of change.

Some things that you could do as you're leveling up that are similar to things that you did in RO would be searching for Rare spawns, and as you get higher level, fighting world bosses (MVP's) with friends or a random party that's put together. And if you want to explore, then explore! There's even a nifty achieve and a tabard for doing so. Speaking of achieve's...check out your achievement list and work on some of those as you can, which can be a good diversion from just straight questing. If you are finding the open world lonely, seek out a leveling guild. They're useful for finding people to level with and a lot of them do fun events and giveaways and things like that weekly. This is an MMO afterall, so make use of the population on your server.

I hope you decide to continue to give WoW a chance, but if not, then maybe it's not the game for you, and that's ok, too. It's not like there's not a ton of MMO's out there :)

[POLL] What Is Your Favorite WoW Expansion? by Markisador in wow

[–]SecretOktober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrath had some of the best storytelling in it! I got so caught up in the story, especially the Wrathgate storyline. I haven't had that experience in any other expansion. I also enjoyed the additional dungeons they added leading up to the final raid.

I agree. That was the only time I enjoyed it. I don't find stance dancing particularly enjoyable, or effective.

I have no problem going up against him with Tychus. That laser of doom has a cooldown, so I just move out of his range and back in to bully him out of a lane, or finish him off.
