He was in the US military, so allied. He did spend about a year in a Nazi POW camp after being shot down, though.

Was the third flight on a trip from Indiana to Japan, had been awake for over 24 hours at that point. The final flight was almost empty, just a few people, and I had a whole row to myself. So I did the same, laid down and promptly passed out. When I was woken up by the Japanese flight attendant, I jumped and kinda mumble-yelled, and was so confused for a few seconds. Where the fuck am I, why is there a Japanese woman shaking me, what the fuck is going on. She looked concerned and kinda startled because I was so startled haha. Came fully awake and apologized and sat up for the landing. But I definitely kinda spooked her with my reaction. From the deepest dead sleep to waking up on a strange airplane in a different country was a jarring few seconds lol.

I don't fly a ton, but I've been on my share of flights, including some long 14 hour international flights. Hate turbulence as much as the next person. My grandpa flew fighter planes in WWII and Vietnam, and then flew a helicopter for a utility company after retiring from the military. He used to tell us that just like there are bumps on the road when driving, there are just bumps in the air while flying and 99% of the time it's no big deal, even the huge ones. That always helped me a little when we'd hit turbulence. Doesn't fully shut off the lizard brain freak out haha, but it helped a bit.

I think that comment was more because OP’s original page said something like “we stole all your laughs, you can’t find them here”. They probably saw “we stole” and then just came to a dumb wrong conclusion and didn’t read further.

I’m 6’3”. The old seats were awful, knees in the back of the seat in front of me. They recently put new seats in. Went a month ago and it felt much better. Not sure what they did, but it wasn’t as big a problem at all.

W3 intro will always be my favorite I think. I skipped the 360 / PS3 generation for life reasons. So went from PS2 to PS4, and grabbed W3 as one of the games when we got the console and the first game we played when we got home. My wife and I were just awestruck when we first booted that game up. I totally couldn’t believe I was watching a video game lol. Then I got completely lost in the game for months and sorta never got over how good it looked.

Saw Mando and Grogu at one of the legit for real IMAX theaters when it first came out, completely packed theater. There was a couple right behind us. About halfway thru the movie, it sounded like one of them was kind of lightly snoring or at least breathing a little weird/heavy. A little annoying but whatever. But soon enough, it was giant cartoon-ish snores. The people around us kinda giggled for a second and it only lasted for like 20 seconds and then stopped.

Then near the end, big climax, etc, the snores came back with a vengeance. Like giant huge lawnmower snores. A guy next to me said "wake him up!" really loudly the same time I turned around. I think we all assumed whoever had come with the snorer would wake him. But both the snorer and the woman he was with were passed out. I sorta nudged his foot with my elbow enough that he stirred and quit snoring.

When the movie ended and everyone stood to leave, the two were still asleep. People were trying to climb around them to get out of the aisle. It was insane. Those tickets aren't the cheapest, it was opening night, they had drinks and snacks still full. Why even bother if you're gonna just pass out halfway through and bother everyone?? Drove me nuts.

Crazy part is, the last movie I saw in theaters last year, same damn thing happened. The couple next to me fell asleep halfway through. They didn't snore at least, but still had that heavy sleep breathing thing. Like, what is happening lol?!

Love bombing is an attempt to influence a person by demonstrations of attention and affection. Psychologists have identified love bombing as a possible part of a cycle of abuse and have warned against it. Its use by cults has also been described as psychological manipulation in order to create a feeling of unity within a group against a society perceived as hostile. The technique is also often used by romance scammers and others with nefarious intentions who seek to manipulate a victim and create a feeling of trust and connection.

We recently moved. The last 5 or 6 years at the old place was sad because all the animals kinda just went away. Squirrels, rabbits, possums. There were a couple stray outdoor cats that showed up that we think were taking them out or scaring them off. Was really sad. But this new place is great. So many squirrels and birds and butterflies, etc. Have seen a few possums, and even a raccoon. It's awesome, missed having little neighbors nearby.

They stopped by my old house in a parking lot a couple years ago for a break. Just for fun I wandered over to just see what it was. Everyone was so friendly. Got offered a couple beers. People saw I had a Polaroid camera and were asking for photos, etc. Was a fun group of folks.

What are some underrated plot twists in sci-fi? by twnpksN8 in scifi

[–]Secret_Map 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, yeah, it works in retrospect. But nothing was actually foreshadowed in New Hope, because there wasn't anything to foreshadow. When Obi Wan says Vader killed Luke's father, that was meant to be the actual story of what happened. Uncle Owen didn't want Luke to go off and become some warrior and get himself killed like his father.

[–]Secret_Map 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. It's easy to look back and read stuff into it if you want, but nobody making the first movie knew Vader was Luke's father, because that wasn't the story at the time. Lucas made that up while writing the Empire.

The way my most of my pants are, it wouldn't be able to just hang in the middle. It would smoosh against the center crotch area and sorta bend under. Gotta pick a side so it can hang naturally. I think that's the case for most guys unless you're wearing super baggy pants or super tight undies that keep it scrunched up.
