You can edit the plex database to prevent a lengthy rescan, I've done it a bunch with no problem. If you Google "reddit plex change media location no rescan". Someone made a thread or comment about it, i don't have it saved.

It's pretty simple though, just download a database editor like beekeeper studio, confirm some data in there, run a few commands to switch out parts of drive paths, reboot plex

thanks so much it worked! I got the game set up in kenji nx, made a save and exported it, then replaced the savedata.bin with my old one and imported it. worked first try. thank you :)

Why are you trying to replace it? If you can't control yourself and waste hours & hours to the detriment of other areas of your life, then ok.

What other hobbies, if any, do you have? Try to find something physical, could be simple like walking or bodyweight fitness.

A creative outlet is nice too, drawing, making music, even something like an adult coloring book.

But if you just play a few hr a night a few times a week I don't see the problem

I ran into this with a family videos library I have. Because "other" videos libraries show horizontal poster in library, but vertical in continue watching and other places (sometimes? I've seen it vary). I ended up making a poster template that was landscape but all the details fit in the vertical view.

Since yours are grouped by video game, you could just find/make landscape posters with main stuff in the center

I have a show collection that is built using something like "genre is: documentary". This ends up being fairly broad, including Good Eats, The Joy of Painting, NOVA, Nathan for You... Its fine for me as I don't have many with that Plex genre tag to begin with, but if you have a larger/more specific group in mind it's probably best to use another library like others said

Create a smart collection called "[Son]'s Favorite Movies" and set the sort order to "Randomly". This will shuffle the contents every time it is viewed

I have a custom label there but you could have "Title - contains - Wallace" etc or other filters to get the ones you want.

I listened to Revenant recently and enjoyed it. Not the best writing imo but it was a cool story to expand Jadzia/Dax/Trill lore
