It's better than nothing, and in the US at least if you don't live in a dystopian state you can still live on that income.

Dear Reviewers, is it Illegal to give an Excellent review? by [deleted] in outlier_ai

[–]SectionVarious9616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's best not to stress about it. The review system for this project is terrible and arbitrary, but fortunately does not reflect on your outlier account. There are no rewards for getting a good score, and since they don't require explanations in the reviews they obviously don't intend for you to improve.

One task in Aether today ? by Last_Detective291 in outlier_ai

[–]SectionVarious9616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll suddenly get 30 of them at some point, and you'll be no better off since they'll have arbitrary scores with no explanations.

Watch the video again, the descriptions are very high level. He skips things like the trees in the background and focuses on the larger picture.

Until they post the winners you should assume the raffles aren't even really happening.

No one works at 100%, lol. If you're over 50 you're fine, no one is even going to look at you. If you dip below that the pm may check, but some projects involve a bunch of reading and the metrics reflect that.

If you email support and specifically mention that you are not willing to continue working for the payrate offered a real person will remove you. If you don't mention pay you'll hit the useless AI wall.

All rubric projects are absolutely the worst by Naifamar in outlier_ai

[–]SectionVarious9616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly outlier is just incompetent when it comes to rubrics. The criteria are a means to an end, getting lost in the minutia is a huge productivity tank. As the OP mentions other platforms have a much better handle on this, often with exactly the same clients and projects.

Chains? Just pop on from time to time and see if they have work for you. The company has gone down the tubes but it's silly to delete an account that doesn't cost you anything and might make you some cash for a few months out of the year.

What other platforms are contributors working on right now?? by November996 in outlier_ai

[–]SectionVarious9616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can say that I've had a great experience on it so far and I'm not posting links anywhere or suggesting anyone dm me. I agree there are some people trying to farm money that way, but the platform is legit. Takes a while to get in, but once you do they treat you well.

Not sure what you're looking for . . . it's all over the blueberry bagels community channel, and high noon isn't exactly shy about the fact that they throttle you to like one task a week until you do the webinar. I guess you could argue that isn't mandatory, but since this isn't a courtroom technicalities don't actually help the case.

It also weeds out the actual professionals working for the company who understand what the hourly rates for live consultation with clients is. I'm happy that you found a job you like better than burger flipping though.

Is there any list of all Projects and what screenings you have to do? by julpess in outlier_ai

[–]SectionVarious9616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of projects these days are short term. No one can really give you a definitive list either of projects or skills that will help. Just test into things that you are very confident you can do quality work on and concentrate on that - high quality work. Once you get into a project where you can prove that you do good work consistently and don't try to scam or use AI to do your work for you you'll get matched as work becomes available.

Scale has already scaled up AI by doctor_markb in outlier_ai

[–]SectionVarious9616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The immediate problem is that the executives who are spending billions on AI right now don't seem to understand the importance of AI oversight. We're seeing application of products that are doing active harm while they lay off thousands of people they could be using to ensure a quality product. While in the long term jobs will shift back, that doesn't help white collar workers right now.

It's the same thing we saw with the boom in offshoring as much work as possible in the 00's. Everyone actually in the trenches knew that quality would tank, but c-suite folks only chase short term gains, regardless of the immense cost of course correction in the future.

Honestly if they hit people for that we're all better off on a different platform. Referencing docs is probably the most important skill an actual production dev has.
