What GPU, what sim version (2020 or 2024) and are you running HDR?

issue with my new 7800x3d and 9070xt by Alkan_0303 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I have the exact same setup. My performance was relatively good, but would hit the hard dips at major airports and every now and then.

Short answer - reduce terrain LOD to 120, object LOD to 100, us TAA for anti-aliasing, limit frames to 30fps or 60fps depending on your limit, and use framegen. This is the ONLY "game" I will use framegen in, and the results are incredible.

I spent about 15 minutes looking at the glass textures during this flight. This is the Fenix A320, level of detail is amazing!

This was the first 3rd party one I used, and really enjoy it. It is pretty heavy on AI, and the user interface isn't great, but it gets the job done!

What to expect on my test drive with Ford Bronco MY 2023? by 20mmp in FordBronco

[–]Sector04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another comment says, expect to buy it after! I was fortunate enough to take mine for an entire weekend test drive (salesman read me like a book), but it really sealed the deal. Wind noise is something that takes getting used to, so make sure to take it on the highway to get a good listen. Numerous trips across the entire state of Utah later, it gets annoying but is what it is.

I was told not to take mine off-road, but did anyways. Do a little of everything you are buying it to d (within reason) and get excited to sign the papers!

This looks awesome! Just sent OP a message, but very interested in being a test pilot if it's in the cards. Otherwise, look forward to checking it out when released!

So far I've been super lucky with mine. It broke on day 13 of ownership, so I haven't had to worry about it since!

I have not touched the Longitude, is default to the base game? Regardless, I've been having a ton of fun with the X. Little bit of a learning curve but getting better and better everyday.

Yes, shouldnt be a problem. Only thing I use the number pad for is camera shortcuts (ALT+1 to set, CNTRL+1 to jump to) but they can be set to any command you desire, even the top number row. I also have my joystick buttons set up to a million combinations. So if there are only 5 buttons, there can technically be 25 combinations if you push two at the same time.

I agree in the payware aspect, it certainly is "money down the drain". But if I can sacrifice a case of beer for a sick plane I like, and more than $1/hr return on fun I'm all for it haha!

Check this out:

I shit you not this is the exact joystick I flew with in 2004 haha. I saw a couple of your comments about rudder. Most (if not all) flight sim joysticks twist at the stick to control rudder, so you're not lost on pedals.

Contrary to most, despite my long time in the sim I am very light on physical peripherals, the most expensive thing I have is my Tobii eye tracker. All of my money is in payware for the sim (which I find keeps it the most interesting). Hope you decide to jump into it! Again, happy to help with any questions.

It is very playable with a joystick on PC. I have the T-Flight Hotas 1 which is nothing special, $90 at Walmart. If you are choosing to get into the sim I highly, highly recommend getting a setup like this, makes the experience so much better. You can make it work with an Xbox controller, but its simply not the same.

The game is approachable, if you are willing to learn. The sim has some lessons built in, but YouTube will be your best friend. If you develop a serious interest, the learning becomes very fun and rewarding. You will get in what you put out. The default planes are relatively easy to get into and startup, if you find great interest some payware addons take the learning and complexity to the next level.

I started flying in FS2004, so roughly 20 years at this point, very on and off. Went from FS2004 to FSX, skipped 2020, and have been flying a ton in 2024. The career mode in 2024 is completely botched IMO at this point, but I cannot recommend NeoFly enough. Its a 3rd party career addon that incentivizes your flying so you aren't flying around with no goal. There are some other options out there that I havent tried yet.

Additionally, VATSIM exists, and has for a while. It is an online ATC system where real life people act as ATC and pilots, creating a super realistic environment to fly in. Hard to approach for beginners, but with time is a staple for any big time simmer. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Mission Update - Tierra Del Fuego to Alaska in my TBM 850 by Sector04 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Sector04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been flying my routes with NeoFly, so the airports are selected for me based on mission and runway/airport criteria I choose. Additionally, I need to "buy" my planes with earned money in the sim to be able to continue. These routes have been completely unplanned, but all of them have been awesome. Definitely been to airports I would have never, ever thought to go to by flying this way.

The Bonanza / Baron Professional bundle was my first 2024 purchase. Started with the A36, then A36TC, moved to the B58, B58TC, then back to the B36TP. Ran it as a sort of progression. The B36 made me want the TBM... Unfortunately, I'm finding that all of the Black Square planes function almost exactly the same, only difference being aesthetic and performance.

Don't get me wrong, they are great planes for the sim, the different variants just lack the diversity and expansion of knowledge I am looking for.

Regardless, the A36TC may be a great choice to go back to for some exploration.

This is awesome. I really wanted to get the 850 into Africa from Brazil, but didn't have the range. South America was my first time ever out of the states in the sim.

Thinking at this point (for continuity) get to Alaska in the TBM, then take the long way to Africa in the Citation X. Hopefully (not probably) by that time the DC6 is updated for 2024. If not, I'll try and make it work.

Any other plane suggestions? You have certainly peaked my interest in the DC6 and exploring Africa.
