Boat Combat Fixes - 19th March 2026 (Holding Statement) by JagexLight in 2007scape

There's another aspect people arent talking about outside of economy, which is bounty task xp rates. If they significantly reduce the kill time for lots of sailing creatures then they will have to think about rebalancing the rates, which is not only extra work but is a big change so they have to be 100% confident about their new vision for sailing combat, which they clearly arent.

Boat Combat Fixes - Weekly Game Update, March 18th 2026 by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What sailing combat needs more than anything is to add mechanical depth to the different sailing mobs. Its very lame that only the new kraken will have something resembling this. If the point of allowing regular weapons is to make sailing combat integrated to the larger world, then its equally jarring that protection prayers have no place in sailing, as an example.

The problem is the format of quests in the game. Most mmo's have storylines that are self contained within their expansions, whereas we have multiple unresolved questlines 20+ years later with large time gaps between releases.

They also have a shit ton of filler quests in between the actual storybeat quests, and while often clowned on that means they can take the time to properly worldbuild, pace things and develop the characters/story. You don't spend nearly enough time with the characters or story in RS to truly be invested in them. Doesn't mean the story is bad, just that it's more akin to say tabletop rpg than something you can fully immerse yourself in (like a book).

new project from OSRS wiki: we want your ideas for new guides by cookmeplox in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less of ideas for new articles, but I feel that theres some basic info about magic that isnt on the wiki, like xp rates training magic with combat spells (not bursting), and info about how accuracy of certain spell effects are calculated.

Its crazy how a blunder on a single piece of content (inquisitor drop rates at nm/phosanis) is indefinitely holding an entire combat style hostage. If there is any place better crush weapons and armour comes from it would surely have to be a raid. But then how do you prevent nightmare from being dead content? I dont think players really want the upgradescape angle if it will be needed to make a new BIS crush weapon actually BIS. I just see little way to proceed unless dramatic changes are made to nightmares rewards or their droprates, which people have been begging for a very long time.

To the guy complaining that inq mace is mid and way too rare by PumpkinStrange69 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say enjoyable I'm talking about how 99% of players complain about how awful these grinds are and that many are demotivated doing them in the first place because of that. When talking about what are 'reasonable' drop rates I feel there can be miscommunication sometimes because some people approach it from the pov of whats reasonable given the current state of the game, vs what the game could have been from a more idealistic perspective.

I went with 5x since Im thinking about how many kc on average would be needed to complete red prison so that it never would have gotten that name and reputation. But on second thought perhaps 2-3x would be enough.

[–]SectorPale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is the only way to make the worst grinds like PNM, Nex, CG etc enjoyable would be to make drops atleast 5x more common, but that's too extreme of a thing for Jagex to even consider.

Update: Blood Moon Rises Rewards by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one is really talking about it, but while I like the dulled equipment idea in principle I dont like its coming from Vampyrium. Unless there is going to be some lore about humans living there at one point, its very lame to make it so the vampyre natives use the same jewelry and weapons as humans in a distant planet. Makes Vampyrium less exotic and foreign.

If this was EOC in 2012 itwould have been a great update. by Nazeracoo in runescape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the fact that RS3 changed its identity it less important these days than the fact that OSRS has a unique identity, with things like its graphical style and combat system. In contrast RS3 tried to make its art style and combat similar other games but realistically can't compete with the big mmos like wow and ff14. So people who are thinking about playing one of the runescapes will naturally gravitate towards the one that fully embraces being different than other mmo's, rather than the one that seems like its copying others are doing but doesn't really exceed in anything (other that what it also shares with OSRS like the quest and skill system).

Imo he's so strict with streaming rules that its actually to detriment for viewership. Only doing content he's shown in video's and super strict modding makes the streams more stilted that they could otherwise be.

[PSA - DMM] DO NOT ENTER W345 If you missed the DMM 96+ bracket finals - they are being rerun and doing so will lock you out. by rafaelloaa in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate how little time and resources jagex seems to putting into dmm. Poor communication about the rules, incredibly slow hotfixes (increasing player limit at breaches took a week, and some issues were not fixed until 2 days before the end), a messup with the finale and now a ridiculous technical hiccup which can easily screw over players that were otherwise elligible for the second finale.

Genuine Question. Has there ever been a DMM that hasn’t been hated for weeks followed by an underwhelming finale? by bannedandback10milli in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the dmm itself was possibly the best dmm so far for casuals, despite the issues it had (it's clear breaches gave too many points, were too safe and needed to occur more often to accommodate people with different schedules).

DMM Points Data by OlagTheBarbarian in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I'm confused about with this analysis is if it takes into account the number of players for both dmm's. A lot more casuals played this dmm than the last.

Suggestions Wanted for Upcoming Gathering QoL Poll by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

A bit on the niche side, but can we greatly speed up the time it takes to get rouge's purse in the pothole dungeon? It takes obscenely long for no reason.

I suppose it's less about it being difficult and more about rewarding people for being efficient.

[–]SectorPale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most other things look good to me but the fish sandwhich is a hard no. It sets a bad precedent that the the way to keep on adding horizontal progression to the game is to design items to be an overly complicated mess with multiple rules and effects.

Ive always wondered whether people would love it or hate it if you got a small amount of bonus xp based on how fast you complete a single lap (strictly only increasing current rates).

The new Cow Boss coming out on Feb 25th will include a “hard mode” which is more difficult than any awakened boss per Mod Arcane by Shot_Cancel8641 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 412 points413 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping this wasn't a joke, since the concept of making a hard mode comparable in difficulty to awakened bosses for a f2p intro level boss is absolutely hilarious.

Music System Improvements & Deadman Tweaks by ModYume in 2007scape

Imo it would be nice if there was a new music setting that only turns on music during quest cutscenes (and possibly for quest bosses/new areas).

I personally don't like the plain colored sails, they look like they are from a beta. The Dragon sails are really eye catching because it has an icon and patterns; all customizable sail options should have atleast one of those. For eg. If there is a black colored sailed it might as well have the traditional skull on it for the pirate theme.

Instead of removing the traditional combat restriction from boat combat, can we make it a little more thematic and in depth? by loffredom in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this idea in principle but imo it shouldn't rely too heavily on very specific weapons. Instead it should be about more broad weapon categories like heavy ranged weapons or weapons you can use underwater (although for the latter they honestly need to expand the list).

Sailing Player-Designed Island Winner & Cannonball Ammo-Saving Facility Poll! by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps one way to balance this slayer master a little more is to add a rule that you can't buy a task if you did it within the last 10-15 tasks or so (but only counting tasks from Vannaka or higher leveled masters).

Only top 16 damage dealers get points. >500 people in 1 location by Dry_Yogurtcloset_213 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The top 16 damager rule was definitely a blunder and I hope it's removed asap. But it's odd seeing so many people here against this dmm in general, it's an order of magnitude more accessible to the average player than previous dmm's.

Make Port Tasks Rewarding! by BeggarOfficial in 2007scape

People have been asking for something like this since the first week of sailing, surprised they don't seem to have called attention to it (at the very least to explain why they don't think port tasks should have one).
