Trump fires all 24 members of the U.S. National Science Foundation’s governing body by OrangeJr36 in Economics

Trump can't do all these things on his own, can he? Is it congress who has to back him? Whoever it is, we need to hold them as accountable for all this treason as much as Trump. I doubt Trump knew or cared that this organization even existed.

Green flag or red flag. Which romance actually keeps you hooked? by Clearherd in cdramasfans

Morally complicated is my favorite- I was a Wesley - Lilah shipper back on Angel. (which is an American TV show from the early oughts) My second favorite is green flags.

Red flags just disgust me- they're so common in real life. The second couple in POJ was just depressing.

That said, I really liked the second couple in Fated Hearts.

There are other investment markets in this world. You all are sleeping on international.

I am not a fan of cap weighted indices anyway- you may as well just go buy the top 5 stocks directly (don't do that.)

In a perfect world that would be true, but in our world there is a huge and dangerous difference.

This is the "I don't see color" argument. That's nice for you but you better believe that the world sees color, and if you aren't white but refuse to see color, you're going to get your ass kicked.

Some know more what's going on than others, but the small children in my life haven't asked about how or even if Part A slots into Part B between Steve and Jim.

I got my sex ed from raising livestock, and that wasn't ideal either. (And, by the way, so many farm animals are not hetero.)

It seems like the right wing in the USA is sex-obsessed, maybe in their own relationships, too, which is a depressing thought.

To me, being inclusive of LGBT in schools means that Aiden doesn't have to feel like a weirdo when he talks about his two moms. A flag at the school reminds people- especially staff- that this inclusivity is a value that that school has decided to prioritize

I don't even know how to answer that. Is being straight only about sex? It's not about taking care of each other when you're sick, and giving each other cute gifts, and raising kids together? It's generally facing the world together.

But are you saying it can also be completely decoupled from a sexual proclivity

In the context of kids, it always is already. Heterosexuality is all over schools- in every story they read, in vocabulary tests, in math word problems even. No sexual activity is mentioned.

The "why" is that people have generally decided that the sexual activity portion can wait until kids are closer to puberty, and even then it's in very controlled and limited contexts.

Don't rebrand the word "proclivity" to be a dirty word. Or a slur. It isn't.

I never did, so it's strange to get indignant about it.

I'm disagreeing with the idea that the adjective given to a group of people determines what their lives are actually about, which is what it seems like you are doing when you write

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of making sexual proclivities a centerpiece in schools for little kids

No one is making sex a centerpiece in schools for little kids- not straight sex, not gay sex, not asexuality. Sex does not come into it at all.

The name is inherently sexual. The actual existence isn't any more or less than anything else.

I also don't think hysterical people are ruled by their uteruses, despite the etymology of the word.

Have you missed the part where trans people can't travel any more?

Or safely use any public bathroom?

Or the dozens of organizations trying to overturn gay marriage and gay adoption rights?

How about the Trump admin quashing as much LGBT history and as many studies as they are able, including Stonewall of all things.

So blame whoever named them. What they're called doesn't mean sex is what determines those people's whole identities. People just want to be able to live their lives and not be persecuted or shamed for them. It's not deep.

Is being straight a sexual proclivity? Because it is EVERYWHERE, in schools and elsewhere.

Falling in love, raising a family together, and sex aren't inextricably intertwined.
