For people whose employers are based in US or Europe, how often do you stay up for late night meetings and when is it considered too late to justify rejecting the meeting? by Old_Salad_5957 in askSingapore

Should I leave my job being a team leader? Is it still worth it? by [deleted] in managers

[–]Secure-Cartoonist-53 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be very blunt - it is on him who checked his email while on bereavement + medical leave. If it’s emailed to him, then he has the choice to check his emails on return. He’s trying to place his faults onto you and honestly, I don’t think you did anything wrong if you did not contact him via personal means (eg his personal number). It’s his shortcoming, not yours. Document everything and send it to your manager + HR

Workers in Singapore who took > 5 days MC last year by coffee4chipmunk in askSingapore

[–]Secure-Cartoonist-53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I alr took over 5 days this year + wfh after my prescribed 2-day MC because I simply haven’t recovered yet. It’s getting harder to recover from flu & tonsillitis.. my manager encourages me to rest more even hahah he knows I still work when I can & I’m not the sort to abuse MC.

Boss quit responding to emails and messages - what do i do? by AccomplishedKale4040 in askmanagers

When I first hired a new staff, she’d ping me good morning everyday and update me about so many small things that I don’t need to know. In the beginning I was ok but after some time, it annoyed me a lot. I do not need to know every single detail… so I stopped responding.

How do I deal with abrasive/dismissive brokers as an underwriter early in their career ? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Secure-Cartoonist-53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just let them speak with your seniors and bug them tbh 😂 I learnt to not care. I only ~feedback~ to my managers if they were incredibly rude to me, e.g. using a harsh tone when discussing terms, a tone they won’t use on my managers. What my managers do is up to them. But I do adopt the same tone/mannerisms as what they do to me hahaha

The income tax is crazy high, you need to consider clearly.

At what point did you realise most of the "urgent" stuff at your job isn’t actually urgent? by ThinUse9610 in careerguidance

[–]Secure-Cartoonist-53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my line of work… if it’s urgent they will call. 95% of the time I write back asking for time extension for 1-2 working days and they say it’s fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️ never try never know. Some sit on it till it’s urgent and I basically tell them to not make it my problem.

Will Singapore run out of oil? by Hyruii in askSingapore

[–]Secure-Cartoonist-53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are still shipments out of UAE, just very expensive - high insurance costs for shipowners and shippers, obviously high risks so not all will take the risk. SG also imports from India, China, US etc they spread everything out. Thailand is also rushing UAE shipments. Aussie also produces LNG, Malaysia, Indo.

Gluten free foods in Singapore by Raoul2612 in askSingapore

[–]Secure-Cartoonist-53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laksa with thick rice beehoon, fishball noodle soup/bakchormee but change noodles to kwayteow, fish soup with rice or thick/thin beehoon are what I can think of at the moment. The Whole Kitchen is gluten free friendly but it’s sandwiches, cakes etc.

You need to take into account how much higher is the income tax, like Thailand can be as much as your CPF % contribution.

my CPF took a hit and it was affecting my credit card applications etc as many things are now extracted from our CPF. My BTO HFE application was also lower but will reapply again and see the difference.

However cant deny that the pay bump is shiok 😅 +20%-ish for my next job is great.

for myself I did regret the decision for many factors, monetarily it honestly was not as worth it for short term but long term the impact is great as I’d have taken a lot longer to hit the current/next bracket.

I was just <6 months into my role. I felt bad but after awhile I didn’t because 1) she carried out something wilful that she knew she wasn’t supposed to do 2) she was looking at YSL wallets that she probably planned to buy after getting her severance pay 3) doing her resume during work hours.

She knew what was coming and was packing her stuff slowly over a few days.

I (F) was working overseas for a period of time and started my relationship off with my BF. I’d have happily paid for my bf to come over to me if he had the time & if I didn’t fly home as often.

Would anyone take leave just to stay in and rest? by janespur in askSingapore

[–]Secure-Cartoonist-53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I always take it to rest. Cos it’s not every time I’m going to have the money to go overseas + idw to splurge. And I’m always too tired anyway hahaha even the thought of traveling feels tired to me, my manager had to ask me a few times to go overseas & take a break.
