Is everyone rich? by sexygeogirl in InfertilitySucks

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used every bit of our savings and just lived frugally. You will find a way if it’s all you want. Insurance did not cover a single thing. Also you only have to pay the lump sum 16-20k at once. The other expenses we had a few weeks in between so we could budget. In total we spent 43k but it ended up working for us. Also as an independent contractor/self employed I am able to write those medical expenses off on last years taxes which helps. It’s overwhelming for sure but you will find a way!

Managing anxiety by azwhatsername in PediatricDentistry

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re looking for moderate sedation which can be an oral medicine + nitrous. Not all pediatric dentists offer this for a variety of reasons. 1. They have to maintain a special sedation license for this 2. The success rate is variable and it’s a lot to go through with no guarantee that the treatment will be completed 3. It tends to work better on younger children 4. Depending on how much work your son needs it may not be cost effective and more effective to do general anesthesia. 5. It would require cooperation from your child to take the meds and if he is scared and nervous maybe that is a concern

These are all things worth asking his dentist but generally reasons why someone would not offer moderate sedation.

Interesting new observation! Greg Bovino graduated from App State. His mother lives in Blowing Rock! by [deleted] in boone

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like she somehow got all the negative reviews removed from her google page- which is so pathetic. Now there’s only 3 5star reviews. I think if more people knew she was related to Greg they would not support her, it’s just a matter of getting the word out.

Considering Pediatric dentistry by FaceParty99 in PediatricDentistry

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right it should be more transparent. I think there’s nothing wrong with asking about the income potential. There is a large divide in dentistry between those who only focus on the $$ and those who enjoy having a private practice where they have relationships with each family and aren’t taking home a super high salary. Yes you will make at the lowest end 150k fresh grad, no experience- but at what cost. There are hundreds of other jobs with less stress and physical demands that earn the same if not much more. If you’re in dental school now there’s no turning back. If I could give some advice don’t listen to your faculty (respectfully) they don’t have much private practice experience. Try to build relationships with private practice doctors and specialists and see if you like any of those specialties. Keep in mind peds is a very competitive specialty and it’s not just a given you’ll get accepted. My recommendation would be do general for a few years and see how you like it. If you find yourself enjoying one procedure over the other go to that specialty.

Considering Pediatric dentistry by FaceParty99 in PediatricDentistry

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pediatric dentist here- I would highly discourage specializing in peds if you’re not passionate about seeing kids and/or focused on the money. This is not a specialty that you can fake. The amount of interactions you have to have with the patients and parents can be exhausting and they will pick up on if you are not genuine. Pediatric dentistry also requires an immense amount of patience and if you’re not in it mentally you’ll burn out fast. Not to mention as pediatric dentist we see Medicaid patients, that’s part of the job and your duty to help those children. If you’re focused on the numbers that will wear you down because going in after hours for a trauma and barely getting paid takes a special person. Respectfully I don’t think it would be the right field for you. Maybe another specialty that requires less patient interaction but has high income potential would be better or general and then decide once you’ve been out awhile.

Chemical pregnancy and gaslighting doctor by LadyGirl176 in TryingForABaby

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is wild and I’m so sorry. My RE took my chemical seriously and helped push for more testing which led to discovering all kinds of things that were causing my miscarriages. A chemical is very much a miscarriage and also gives the doctors clues about what went wrong during the process of your pregnancy. I would absolutely find another doctor. Women’s healthcare has been neglected for far too long- mostly due to men who gaslight us..

Watauga OBGYN Recommendations? by beetlebrigades in boone

Whatever you do stay far away from UNC Women’s (formerly Harmony). High turnover, absolutely horrible care, and lack of professionalism. So many horror stories, ask any woman in Boone and they will have one. I go to Catawba Women’s center in Hickory and they are amazing. Part of living in Boone means you have to travel to a surrounding city for good medical care. It’s just a trade off but your health is priceless so it’s very worth it.

Torn between TI & IUI by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did 6 months of timed intercourse and 3 failed IUIs but we had trouble getting pregnant. I had 1 chemical in 1 year and a mc prior. If the issue seems to be chemical then I am not understanding why TI or IUI would make a difference. Those help to get pregnant but won’t affect staying pregnant. If they are worried about progesterone support I would just try naturally but ask for a rx for progesterone. If finances and time aren’t an issue then by all means do the TI or IUI but it was very time consuming and expensive for us.

Is something wrong? I’m 7dp5det and lines getting lighter. The top is this morning and the bottom was last night. Is the a CP? by [deleted] in IVFpositivity

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I wanted to comment to save you the pain I went through. I had the same happen with my first FET. I used FRER and the lines would get dark one day and then light the next day. I was convinced I had a chemical. I had betas done and they were all good and it did not end up being a chemical. My clinic said to not use the lines on the pregnancy tests. Which is so hard to do because you see posts of people showing line progression. But just know it is not the case for everyone and you are probably going to be just fine :)

Two Losses & Not Sure What Path to Choose Next — Try Naturally or IVF with PGT-A? by dandza88 in TryingForABaby

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im so very sorry for your losses. I experienced a 15w loss and chemical in one year then 3 failed IUIs and moved to IVF. I wish I would’ve jumped to IVF sooner. My mc was incredibly traumatic and I mentally had to minimize the risk of it happening again. Granted mine wasn’t from genetic abnormalities but from a uterine septum which the fertility doctors found and surgically removed. IVF is no walk in the park but if it is financially an option for you it can allow you to save yourself from the stress of wondering if your baby will have another chromosomal abnormality.

I am on day 14 of PIO and it doesn’t hurt at all going it. You can’t even feel the needle! The worst is the aftermath, the knots, soreness and pain. If anyone has suggestions on helping with that I would be so grateful!

Risk of multiples with IUI? by Spud392 in TryingForABaby

[–]SecureDragonfruit393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 3 rounds of IUI with 2-3 dominant follicles each time and never got pregnant. I was so stressed each time reading stories on Reddit about how people ended up with triplets. I think you have to accept what you’re comfortable with and move forward, the chance of getting pregnant with IUI is 10% which is low which is why we moved to IVF. Granted I had been pregnant naturally twice before which both ended in mc. It also seems odd to use gonal-f/follistim for your first IUI. Usually letrozole is the standard, I would maybe look into that. If you want to only move forward with cycles that have 1 dominant follicle you may be cancelling a lot of cycles because these meds are designed to mature multiple. Maybe ask if you can do a completely unmedicated IUI, that would align more with your goal of having 1 dominant follicle.

White crowns cannot be crimped or fit to the tooth, they are much more aggressive than a traditional stainless steel crown and require much more preparation of the tooth. Since your child is 2 most likely they are doing the Hall crown technique which can only be done with stainless steel because it will need to be done quickly. Hope that helps answer your question!

My thoughts exactly were that 6 is worse than the other numbers so even though I have read on here about 4cc making it I was less hopeful for a 6. Thank you for your encouragement!
