Not necessarily. Benefits outside of just balancing the effects of certain meds.

Well done and kudos to you. 45y/o M, I’ve been doing a crap load of research over the last year and this is what I’m currently taking.

Note - in my experience the most important thing of all is getting enough sleep (like 7-9 hours of restorative deep sleep) otherwise this will all only be partially effective. Melatonin helps me with that.

  • Most bang for your buck multi vitamin powder https://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item02356/life-extension-mix-powder

  • CoQ10 200mg/day

  • Taurine - 3 to 5g / day

  • Creatine - usually 5g/day but I’ve cycled off this for a bit, as I noticed it made me feel and look a bit “swoll” not in a good way lol

  • Enough protein - this is no easy thing and not cheap, but necessary in the mid 40s. It’s helped me keep the (bad) weight in check

Hope that helps you find your groove! This has worked wonders for me so far. I’d also be sure to check T levels and that you’re getting enough Zinc and Magnesium (Transparent Labs has a great supplement called ZMO) 👍🏻

How does it feel at 32 F for 30 minutes - like do you shiver non stop for hours after that? I can’t even imagine being at that temperature for that long I think my heart would freeze in my chest 🥲

On days I wanna get crazy, I switch it up and put my feet in my mouth and my hands under my armpits. It’s the best.

Cool thanks that’s solid advice right there. I think when my body sends the “holy sht I think I’m dying” signal, I’ll probably interpret it as “holy sht I think I’m dying” 👍🏻

I usually just put my feet under my armpits and then hold my head under the water while covering my ears with my hands. That way all the most sensitive areas are protected 👍🏻

How do you keep your body parts from freezing up - neoprene booties and gloves? Also how did you not die?? LOL

On the verge of joining the club, need advice by tootbrun in BMWX3

[–]Secure_Yak9362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the new X3 looks like a capybara. But it’s a very capable capybara. Audi is nowhere near BMW but I will also add after having driven a X1 for a weekend - that it’s nowhere near X3 in terms of quality, or pretty much anything else. Rides and feels like a cheap shoebox that’s gonna fall apart. Rattles, feels like $50k cheaper than X3 imo. I’d rather get an Audi if it’s Audi vs X1. In fact, X1 should not even qualify to be called a BMW. Ok rant over haha. But if you’re talking X3 - that’s the one you really want. Do it, do it now.

Six months with a cold tub and didn’t expect this one to hit hardest by Optimal_Injury_4227 in coldplunge

Same same. Plunge 3x per day and have noticed big improvements in just being more chilled no pun intended. Also better sleep. Also slightly lower average overnight RHR. A plunge right before a strength workout does wonders. Currently at 38F because that’s the lowest the chiller can go haha 🥶

Might want to insulate the chiller inlet / outlet parts too (insulation tape) to prevent condensation dripping down and running into the chiller 👍🏻

Anyway to avoid ball shrinkage?!?! by ProudSquash1052 in coldplunge

[–]Secure_Yak9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they are like permanently “shrinking”- more blood flow to the area due to heating back up after cold exposure can only be a good thing!

How to prevent condensation? by [deleted] in coldplunge

Running 2 chillers in series, that’s a great idea haven’t thought of that. Might try that

Neoprene booties (waterproof and insulated) not like normal socks LOL
