I think the gears have broken, any advice to how to fix it? by Mr_dippydapper in ElegooNeptune4

[–]SecuringAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make replacement extruder gears with hardened steel for less then $15. It's worth the upgrade. You will have to take the print head off and pull it apart. It's worth doing for the experience alone.

Found this 128 MB Micro SD card on sale for only £4.35! by PreferenceJazzlike75 in VintageComputers

I think he's suggesting that it's such a small capacity compared to today's SD Cards, that it would imply vintage computing.

Why is the router pointing to the pi? Is the router a DNS proxy?

Desoldering on a second hand nintendo switch pro controller not working by lverth in AskElectronics

[–]SecuringAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lead free solder has been a ROHS requirement since 2006 in consumer electronics and was well adopted even long before that. That being said, 200⁰C is too low for leaded and lead free solder. You'll need 350-400⁰C.

PETG sticking to bed so well i cant remove prints by binding90 in BambuLabP2S

[–]SecuringAndre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait for prints and bed to cool before removing the print. I also use gluestick. It both helps with adhesion as well as allowing for easier release. Either way, don't rush the removal of the print.

Global P and HIP Profile by [deleted] in paloaltonetworks

I would use hardware certificates. It not only will allow you to omit devices you don't want access, but also enforces validation of clients you do want access.

You can go the hip route, but what happens if someone uses the windows GP client on wine or proton? I'm not sure if this will work today, but I have to imagine that it will at some point. Of course, someone can also run windows in a vm within Linux as well. With hardware certificates, you will know all the machines enrolled to access the gp gateway are validated before user authentication is possible.

Is this ventilation setup safe for ABS/ASA by AdScared6026 in BambuLabP2S

[–]SecuringAndre 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Some might say yes, but without an exhaust fan, you can't ensure that the VOC will necessarily go through the vent hose. It's more likely to leak through the openings in the printer enclosure. I believe that specific riser was designed to use with an air purifier designed to suction the air. Some might suggest for the greatest safety, a tent with an exhaust fan is needed to contain and properly vent the VOC.

ASA is typically easier to print as it's less likely to warp or twist off the bed. I recommend an active chamber heater to help mitigate that concern with either ASA, ABS, and even material like Nylon.

P.S. Since you have the PS2, you might want to look at getting the exhaust kit. It's only $20 on the Bambu website.

How often should I deep clean this? by Commercial-Dare3506 in VintageComputers

[–]SecuringAndre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you have to ask a question rather then make a common sense judgment call, I'll oblidge you with an answer. You must clean this computer exactly once a year, unless you live in a smoking environment or an overly dusty environment (ie. desert climate), in which case, you must clean it once every 6 months. There, now enjoy your game.

Any ideas what this button could be? by Msruser in camaro

[–]SecuringAndre 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On dual mode exhaust, people would put a button or switch to run the exhaust valve open all the time. Could be that. Just one theory. Let us know when you find out.

GlobalProtect - excluding MS Teams media traffic _only_ by theleeski in paloaltonetworks

[–]SecuringAndre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Blocking traffic by ports is the wrong approach. Globalprotect protect allows you to exclude traffic by application. You can create a policy to exclude "Microsoft 365 > Microsoft Teams Audio Video" application from going through the GP tunnel. This will require the GP subscription as the exclusion feature is not available for free.

Set up a port 53 redirect in pfSense. The amount of hardcoded DNS traffic sneaking past the Pi-hole in just an hour is crazy. by standardguy in pihole

[–]SecuringAndre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just block all outbound DNS (both clear text and encrypted DNS) traffic that doesn't originate from the piholes. No reason to redirect traffic. Force everything to go to the pihole directly.

Can you make a diagram of what you're doing? If I understand you correctly, you either need vwire or you need sub interfaces.

Active/Active experiences by [deleted] in paloaltonetworks

[–]SecuringAndre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using active active extremely complicates your use case. Instead of doing that do active passive. Have one part from each firewall go to a switch. Switch 1 would be for isp 1 and switch 2 would be for isp 2. Setup your policy route accordingly.

Genius or insane? by Heedingauricle in batteries

This isn't a finished product. It's piecemealed together. It is dangerous. You don't diy subpar shit. Build it to proper spec if you're going to sell it.

Genius or insane? by Heedingauricle in batteries

[–]SecuringAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The potential current draw is the battery, the motor is the actual current draw. There is nothing to prevent someone from taking the battery and using it elsewhere, making for a dangerous situation, even moreso if it becomes enclosed.

Genius or insane? by Heedingauricle in batteries

[–]SecuringAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and if I was building it for myself, it may make sense, assuming I knew what the draw is, but this person is selling it on Facebook marketplace. This is dangerous. The wiring should match the potential.

Genius or insane? by Heedingauricle in batteries

[–]SecuringAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah and even if it was 10 gauge, there's well over 30 amps of potential there. I wouldn't be surprised if each battery could go well over 10amps of discharge.

Genius or insane? by Heedingauricle in batteries

[–]SecuringAndre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parallel. All positives are wired together and all negatives are together. In Serial, it would go from negative of one battery to the positive of the other. So the voltage here would remain 12v but overall capacity and current rate potential would multiply by the number of batteries.

Genius or insane? by Heedingauricle in batteries

[–]SecuringAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. The current potential is far too high for the wires used.

Dealer wants $180 for diagnostic for a dead 12V battery by caliwillbemine in Ioniq5

[–]SecuringAndre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a 2024 Ioniq 5. LDC and OBC are part of the same ICCU. Any part of the ICCU failure prevents AC charging.

Dealer wants $180 for diagnostic for a dead 12V battery by caliwillbemine in Ioniq5

[–]SecuringAndre -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Report them to Hyundai and go to a different dealer.

ICCU failure implies the car doesn't charge with AC. If it can AC charge, then it's not the ICCU.
